Chapter 1: Survival instincts

[Zetherus]

Tal'set shrugged when the alien left for her own ride. He turned to grab the horizontal handle on his jet and jumped adding with him pulling; launching him on top to where the cockpit is. He sat down into the jet and placed his rifle into a weapons crate built into the wall.

As Tal'set began activating the (on) switches for his fighter. It began to hum then stop at a high pitched hissing. He soon figured that he needed to contact the bridge's AI for permission to leave and did so. "Alright then, I'll just meet the rest of the party down there. Just I'll wait when they go cause I don't know where they'll be headed on this planet."

Tal'set lifted his ship off the bay floor and used the side thrusters to turn the jet 180 degrees to face the bay doors. He used his computer to send a permission form to leave and get escorted by the landing shuttle. He landed his jet ,with the engines still on, facing at the doors and waited for the doors to open.

"The ship is on shorter orbit than the planet's rotation so i'll be phasing in and out of comm range." she thought for a second. "I could drop our fighter drones as relays. Yeah that could work. Largest delay in communication is..." she did a quick calculation, "5 minutes, which meant 10 minutes back and forth." she said. I can't do better right now. "The shuttle has all equipment you'll need. Geological database for lime, analyzer for food samples. I hope you can recognize water." she shrugged, finishing the flight prep with test burns of RCS and main engine.

A takeoff request came through. It was the unknown fighter. Ariaka pressed the intercom button. "Shuttle 2 to unknown fighter, what do you think you're doing? You really think i am willing to let you fly along unarmed shuttle? Think again. If you insist on going down there on your own i am afraid i have to insist on armed escort, please confirm?" said Ariaka, her suspicion meter flying through the roof. "This doesn't fell right." she noted to Rucha.

[Zetherus]

"Hey I'm a merc not a bandit, when it comes to being lost in space I like to make sure all that I can do is appreciated as a proud scout! Not a murderer." Responded Tal'set in an aggravated voice. "I honestly think that you are a bunch a blood thirsty cannibals waiting to get in a tight corner with me!" Responded Tal'set over the mic in a rather odd manner.

"Calm down sir. Maybe if you actually wanted to share anything about you you would know that most of the crew just woke up from stasis with amnesia. Nobody on this ship knows neither who they are, nor where they are nor why. Now land you bird and proceed to the shuttle bay for briefing!" Ariaka raised her voice in response to the newcomer's rage. "You are only a guest on this ship for now, if you want to leave no one is stopping you but if you stay you play by our rules." she said calmly again. For some reason she wasn't used to insubordination. She felt like she always had her way, even though she couldn't remember when the 'always' was. She turned to Rucha, a sidearm she brought for herself in her hand. It was a concussion stunner. "Guard the rear, i don't like this."

[Zetherus]

"Yah I'll come down, just give me a sec." As Tal'set powered down his jet and opened the jet's hatch. He jumped out of his cockpit then strapped a device to his left arm which had two six inch long purple glowing cylinders that had a bunch of warnings in his language all over it. He hid his left arm under his overcoat and strapped his rifle to his back. He walked hastily down the corridor to where the shuttle is and saw the person he was talking to. "So I'm here, you happy now just stay your hands away from me." As Tal'set walked by and sat down in the back right corner of the shuttle so no one would see his left arm.

Ariaka turned around in her pilot seat, her cold blue gaze directed right into the eyes of the newcomer. "So. I am Ariaka, sort of... CO of this... research vessel, i guess. Mind if i ask who you are?" she started, all of her sensors picking up what she thought were the other life form's vitals, seeking any change if the person were to lie.

[Zetherus]

"You can call me Tal'set if you please. I was going to a new star system before I was attacked and wounded up here. Which I'm glad for seeing that I might have went off course." He hunched over in his seat to get eye contact.

[Nohiki]

"Well, course is what we seem to lack. Our navigation is mostly still down. Without a reference point and knowledge of the space we're pretty much F...... Lost." Ariaka shrugged. "Perhaps you could shed some light on this. We can always jump back where we picked you up if you could plot a course to civilization from there, but given the ships that attacked US are probably there repairing the big one and seeking revenge now that we hurt them i'd rather not do that. Maybe you can recognize the planet below. Earlier scans confirmed unnaturaly occuring structures, maybe primitive civilization." she said and turned back, picking up a datapad and handing it over to Tal'Set. "That's a very brief information on the ship, recognize any of that?"

[Kauria]

"Got it." Rucha accepted the stunner moments before Tal'set entered the ship. He took a seat, and her fingers curled around the weapon.
At least she— I know how to use this thing. The amiability of her last encounter with the alien had vanished in the face of Ariaka's suspicion.
She didn't like him sitting behind her. She had been fine in the hangar, but there was something different about the closeness of the shuttle. The Ceretai wordlessly picked up her pack and moved to the rear left seat.

[Morty]

Pausing to listen to the intercom transmission Kiruza proceeded to the hangar. Though she would have liked the opportunity to explore the ship further she didn't want to miss the chance to breath some fresh air again. Or in her case, water. The first thing she noticed upon arriving at the shuttle bay were Rucha and Ariaka in some sort of information standoff with whom she presumed was the recently arrived fighter pilot. She decided to give those three a wide berth while waiting for the mission to proceed.

[Zetherus]

"Hm! Well then if I'm right these engines look as if they where built the same way as my jet's engines, only a lot bigger but slower reaction time. There is a few other places that I recognize my technology other then that I think the rest is a type of government built hardware. Its been so long since I met these a**holes. I think they're called the ORSL; Operative Research Systems Legion. I could be wrong though!" Responded Tal'set as he handed the database back to Ariaka. He felt a lot more comfortable as he had a good look at the database of the ship.

"Ok, too much information. First of all, the government of what? As i said, nobody on this ship knows anything past speech and remnants of their skills as their former selves." Ariaka tried to explain the condition of the crew to the newcomer. "I seem to recall those ships following us belonged to a Federation, but i have no clue how i know that or what that is." she said, not willing to reveal what else she suspects yet.

[Awesomoman]

Lance arrived in the shuttle bay with his massive weapons supply. He noticed Ariaka and the new comer were in a sort of debate on information. He walked over to Kiruza and asked, "Um..Did i miss something? What exactly are they going off about?"

[Morty]

"Though I'm no expert on alien psychology, it would appear that the newcomer made an ill-considered move and now Ariaka is detaining him for information under suspicion of a threat." said Kiruza to the marine, observing the exchange expressionlessly. (Expressionlessness is about the only expression the Shis can express. In fact, they can't even pronounce the word expression. )

[Awesomoman]

"I see." He said and walked over the the shuttle they were taking and set the weapons bag on it. Then headed back and watched more. "Should we stop them and get on with the mission or let them go til they know everything?"
