Let the Games Begin

"I would have needed an orb to know what's going on." noticed Sol'Lux. I'm back for an year already and you still haven't told me about those 20 i missed. My observation was more directed to what Fireheart was doing. She said with a suspicious look. "I've heard that Zarin ran some battle training ground and that on the first day one fire dragon blew himself up. What a success."

"Yaaaa, well, you can see for yourself." Sorting though her memory she brought up from the the big Desperanous fight to when Fireheart came to take Dinara on the big adventure. She replayed it in the very front of her mind with her mental barrier still intact behind.

Shya watched the two dragonesses until her ears pricked at the sound of her name. "Wish me luck." She scaled the pillars and hopped lightly into the arena, sticking close to the rim as her opponent slipped in.
Just like the first time in the battle training camp, she thought. The other competitor, a younger dark dragoness, moved with a slinking grace from shadow to shadow. Shya kept even with her pace, examining her movements closely.
The dark dragoness leapt forward suddenly, the violet glow of magic dripping from her claws. Shya drew back just as quickly, her tail erupting into flames as she evaded the blows.
Her opponent continued to press forward, forcing Shya to stay on the defensive. The other dragoness hesitated for a moment, and Shya leapt at the opportunity.
She slashed at her rival's forearms with fiery claws, refusing to allow her the chance to summon another spell. Planting a foot firmly on the ground, Shya ducked past the dragoness and whirled around behind her. With a fearsome roar, she leapt onto the dark dragon's back, pinning her wings and forcing her to the ground. Shya's blazing tail swung around after her, hovering inches from the other contestant's neck.
The dragoness went limp with defeat and Shya backed away, helping her to stand when the officials allowed the two to leave the inner ring of the arena.

(OOC: Nohi, the camp had been going on for over a month before the guy blew up.)

Gorn watched all the fighting from a different spot and he was relieved he hadn't signed up. While he was a good fighter, those girls were not the girly girl type and could probably beat the crap out of him. "Hey Isk, you should come watch this. They're going up against some tough people and winning with in a matter of seconds."

"What'd I miss?" asked Iskander, trotting from a direction completely opposite to where he'd sat earlier, slightly out of breath. He flicked the clay mimic that had occupied his spot while he'd slipped out, the others having been distracting by Phoenicia's sudden arrival. The mimic crumbled to dust. "I'm not good at fighting. This is about all I can do." he said, making a small dirt golem rise out of the mimic's remains and totter around comically. "But I do like a good show." He grinned and sat down in a spot with a clear view of the fighting.

"Pho just took down her opponent in 10.6 seconds. Well, technically it was 10.57 but if you rounded, never mind. Then Star smashed an energy dragon right on the head, took her around 3 minutes 29 seconds. Shya just threw down a dark dragon, i wasn't keeping track of time on this one." Gorn said waiting for the next match.

Since the little league wasn't going to start till the older combatants had finished Zephyr watch the fights. And wasn't it a sight to see. The last few fights were over so quickly, and the hatchling watched with rapt attention in admiration.

"Oh goodieeeeeeee!" said Phoenicia excitedly when her name sounded again. Her excitement was gone when a large fire dragon entered the arena. Against that her cloaking was nullified by her body heat. She thought how could she turn the disadvantage to her profit. Instead of vanishing, she made her holograms and simulated their body heat. Got you now! She rushed forward, but the dragon wasn't distracted and noticed the real one quickly. one swing of his tail, and... Phoenicia landed in the wooden barrier making the arena's outer circle. "Son of a..." she tried to stand up, but one of her legs was broken and self healing was disallowed by the rules. Instead, she quickly picked up a piece of broken wood and shot it out with full strength. The dragon's left legs were torn on the side. The dragon fell on the side. Phoenicia jumped on him and she was mistaken again. Dragon's teeth quickly made a nasty mess out of her side. She fell down and her unconscious mind applied the healing spell, knocking her out of the fight. "Not careful enough. Maybe next year." said Sol'Lux and brought her near them, repairing the minor damage the spell didn't cover and bringing her back to herself. Phoenicia remained silent, painfully realizing her mistakes.

"Going up against other elements is one thing but it's completely different when it's the same. You know what to expect and yet don't. A lot of battle techniques specify in countering other elements, or from what I've noticed." Starlight put in. "I know you've insisted your not a fighter but may be you should take a bit of time to spar with your mom or Zil or even other fire dragons."

Starlights next opponent a few minutes later was a burly earth dragon. It could have been just her but it looked like he was giving her the evil eye. When the starting signal sounded Starlight flapped up a few meters off the ground, making sure to stay near the middle of the ring. Meanwhile the earth dragon charged forward. There was a rumble and Starlight flew a bit to the side to dodge a distraction pillar to her left wing. Then the earth dragon stopped short digging in his paws. While he had stopped shards of rock and rubble were flung at Starlight. This time Starlight swiped her hands in front of her to create a temporary ice shield. There was more rumbling and Starlight looked to see the dragon coming at her from around the right through the air. They collided and both went tumbling to the ground. Starlight was winded and by the time she got up her forepaws swallowed up by the ground. She may have gotten up before the earth dragon but he had gotten the first move. Starlight sent a ice beam from her mouth his way and stuck him to the ground by his hind quarters. With a snicker at his predicament she started to ice her own feet to make the earth brittle enough to break. She got one paw free and sent another ice beam to keep the opponent occupied while she got the other when out. With a snarl the earth dragon finally got free too when he smashed a good portion of the ice with his free tail. He got up, having to move imidiately to dodge a small blue blur. More came at him and he continued to dodge, now running. Starlight was throwing ice balls at him. One hit his side, another hit his shoulder, resulting in a limp, and the third to make contact was one to his head, making him slid to the battle arena floor, out cold. As Starlight got out she asked Shya, "He looked familiar. Do we know him from some where?"

"I was gonna call hax on that." Gorn said as Phoenicia was beaten by a fire dragon. "But now that i think about it, she had a 34.324% of winning that match. Lets hope Star can do better." Gorn was hoping at least one of his friends would win the whole thing, so he was glad when Star came out on top. "That earth jerk didn't stand a chance. rocks might smash Ice, but if you get water into a rock and the freeze it, the water freezes into ice then expands and breaks the rock. So both rock breaks ice and ice breaks rock."

"It also helps to have some fights behind you already. Starlight has been through most of the fighting since the war and she has been trained well for it. Phoenicia on the other hand is a smith and crafter. She IS strong as hell, but she can only use her elemental power to help her do her job, not fight. IF the opponent plays by his head, she can't win. BTW, Hello." said Zil behind Gorn and his friends. "Who do you think the arena champ is? You know, the one the winner is gonna fight?"

Zephyr had finally found Gorn, squeezing in to sit a bit in front of him so he could see all the fights. Hearing the questions the fire dragon had asked he looked up at Gorn, waiting for a response as well.

Gorn laughed when zil appeared. "Wow, now im REALLY glad i didn't sign up. I do feel a little dissapointed thou. Not that your the last fight but that Pho lost, i mean imagine the look on her face if she went in thinking shes the best and then BOOM your right there."

"I didn't say a word about it being me. To be honest i'm here only because for the first time of my life the fire fortress is all here so there's no problem to solve and no need for me to be there. I thought you know who it is." he said and looked around. "I think she knew she won't win it. I didn't raised her as a fighter on purpose. I think she just didn't expected her own kind to beat her."

"Well the way you said it made it sound like it was you, and to be honest i havn't had any contact with any dragon other than Isk for almost a year. This trip was a last minute idea." Gorn looked at the arena. "I guess some people are just born fighters no matter what, know what i mean?"
