Name: Ourias
Age:
Gender: Male
Element: Shadow
Theme: Glad You Came (DSharp Violin Mix) - The Wanted
Appearance: Ourias is average-sized for his age (at twelve, between white and green on the scale, moving up to green at eighteen), and his main body is metallic black and striped with violet. His underbelly is a steely color, the scales rimmed with a thin strip of opalescent coloring. The tops and undersides of his wings match the corresponding areas of his body in terms of coloration, except the secondary colors become the fringe.
Ourias' horns are a dark, grayish purple, and curve down to just below his throat. He has bright red-and-violet eyes, although they appear magenta in most lighting conditions. He actually doesn't mind all that much.
His tail is tipped with a venomous stinger, like that of a scorpion, although the poison isn't particularly potent on a creature the size of a dragon.
Interestingly enough, his tongue and gums are a smooth, milky white, which can be disconcerting to some dragons the first time he opens his mouth to speak. It does, however, give his cheerful smile an even brighter appearance, something he tries to maintain.
As far as body type goes, he's actually heavier than he looks, and has a certain lingering "softness" from his childhood.
All I have for pictures at the moment(are ooooooold) are his concept sketch (), and a WIP of a drawing that you really shouldn't want to look at anymore because good lord does it need an update - .
History: Ourias' parents actually met for the first time at Zarin's battle training camp, as a healer and an injured warrior. Some years later, they left the camp as mates. Despite their best efforts, Ourias is a terrible fighter and can only manage limited healing at his age. They're still trying to find an area that suits his capabilities, but Ourias has already fallen in love with the night sky. Whatever he does, he wants to be able to look at the stars while doing it. He's trying to learn astronomy or astrology, but he hasn't found a dragon willing to teach him yet. He's also learned a little painting, but a lack of supplies makes things difficult.
Both sides of his family come from rather ancient and distinguished lines of powerful shadow warriors and necromancers.
His relatives are a bit disappointed in him.
Considering the lifespan of dragons, as well as extension through dark magic and the possibility of reanimation after death, he has to put up with quite a few generations of disapproval, particularly from his grandmother. It doesn't worry him much, though.
Mother: Deka
Father: Metrus
Grandmother: Hectel
Personality: Ourias is an idealist and a bit of a dreamer. His optimistic and creative outlook on life enables him to generate solutions few others can think of. Most of the time his ideas don't work, but he doesn't let that deter him.
Also likes to collect brightly-colored objects. No one really knows what he does with them.
Humans intrigue him, and he'd do almost anything for the chance to meet one. He loves meeting and helping other dragons in whatever ways his limited abilities will allow. Sometimes, he mistakes a good first impression for the start of an unconditional friendship, something his parents know will get him into trouble someday. He absolutely won't hesitate to jump in and defend someone he scarcely knows. He does get kinda freaked out if anyone yells at him, though.
Abilities:
-Ourias has keen eyesight, particularly in low lighting.
-He's rather good at going unnoticed when he wants to sneak about.
-Ourias may not be good at healing, but he has learned how to neutralize the effects of certain poisons.
-The venom in his stinger only causes paralysis to something the size of a dragon, and the exact duration can vary greatly.
-He knows a few basic curses, really only to hinder enemies while he escapes.
-He's able to notice small details many others would miss at a glance, and he's found a number of secret passages and forgotten hideouts this way.
-Very limited reanimation abilities. Very, very limited.
-He is master of all things daisy chain.
(...Is it just me, or does his personality sound like something a teacher would write on a report card? )
