Happy Valentine's Day! i978.photobucket.com/albums/ae262/Wiremouth/FortheLulz/happyvalentines10_zpsf3af325b.png
Name: Vorun
Gender: Male
Element: Dark
Age: Adult
Class: Spy
Appearance: Lean, muscular dragon with a runner's build and a thick, powerful tail. Vorun's scales appear a dark, metallic blue in direct sunlight, but pitch black in all other lighting conditions. His eyes are black with pale blue rings around the iris. Vorun lost his wings in a fight. Only two thick white scars remain where his wings once were.
Past:
Vorun has been a wanderer for most of his life, doing odd jobs for food and shelter, or just company. He has gotten in more than a few scrapes on his travels, and has the scars and the experience to prove it-- though no training to speak of. He is pragmatic, lazy and irresponsible, with a tendency towards dry and self-deprecating humor, but most of all, he's self-reliant.
Vorun lost his wings after picking a difficult fight with the wrong opponent. It didn't last long; in just a few minutes he was making his getaway on wings ripped to ribbons, and, weakened by blood loss, crash-landed unceremoniously in the forest. When he came to, he was shackled to a post in a barn shed with a severe pain in his back; he turned around, and his wings were gone. Four humans stood in the shed with him, two wearing bloody smocks. They seemed frightened to see him awake; one pressed a vial of liquid towards him.
"What is this?" he asked, in the human dialect of the region.
"Medicine.. for your wound." said the first.
"What have you done to me?"
"Nothing we could do... Too torn up, infection set it.."
So it was that Vorun spent the next few weeks recovering with the aid of the humans, near catatonic with the effect of the medicine. The pain was too great otherwise. They had no healing magic of their own, so he couldn't find it in himself to blame them for the damage they'd done. When he was well enough to hunt he set out on his own again, with all the medicine he could carry, but not without leaving a brace of bears at the human healer's shack.
Beyond that, his past is a mystery. Though his wings stopped causing him pain years ago he still takes medicine when he can find it, which is rarely. He generally operates heists or espionage missions for clients in exchange for sundry sedatives. Assassination missions are less his style, though he's not prone to be picky.
Vorun's skills revolve mostly around avoiding or incapacitating the enemy. Though smaller in stature than the average dragon, he is relatively strong, and very agile, but land a good hit on him and he'll drop like a brick. Since his abilities rely heavily on shadow to operate, he is inactive for most of the day, usually dozing in a safe location until the sun goes down and he comes into his element. He has no qualms about running from a battle he knows he can't win: he picks his opponents carefully: if he can't get the drop on them, he's already at a disadvantage. He is good at using his enemy's weight against them.
Passive:
Night Vision: Dark clan heritage allows him to see perfectly in the dark.
Lay of the Land: Vorun has travelled extensively over Dragon-Essence and so knows the locations of many good scoping places and hideouts, as well as hunting grounds and watering holes.
Active:
Cloak of Night [Auto] - Vorun makes himself invisible in all but direct light. (10 mana)
*Shadow Step [Auto] - Vorun travels rapidly through the shadows, using them as secret network of passages within buildings and an express route in the wilderness at night. (10 mana)
Floor Ninja [Physical][Close Range] - Vorun bursts from the shadows from behind his opponent and attempts to subdue them with a quick jab to the pressure points.
Anklebiter [Close Range] - Vorun surprises his enemy by grabbing their wrists or ankles from beneath their feet and dragging them partways into the shadows. (15 mana)
Oubliette [Ultimate] - Vorun bodily drags his enemy into the shadow nexus and seals them there until the sun comes up or they figure out how to escape (this could take anywhere from hours to weeks) -- it is not advisable to continue using the nexus when there is another angry occupant inside. (50 mana)
*The way the shadow nexus operates is very specific. Vorun cannot fit into a shadow smaller than himself. He can, however, slip beneath doors if the doorway is wide enough. His perspective is as if he were travelling below the ground in a space the shape of the shadow he is occupying.
Shadows must be touching or else close enough to jump across for him to be able to travel between them. He cannot regenerate mana while in the shadow nexus. He can, however, travel at three times normal speed, allowing him to outpace even flying targets, so long as he doesn't have to maneuver around light patches. If the shadow he is occupying is suddenly cast into light, he'll be exposed as if he were merely standing where the shadow once stood.
Dragging people in up to their ankles has the effect of encasing their limbs in whatever substance the floor is made of, however, he must leave the shadow he has trapped them in or else they will quickly be able to extricate themselves. They can try to escape without light, but it may be very painful if done too quickly. Trapped limbs should be drawn out with care.
He, obviously, cannot hit flying opponents. But he can inhabit shadows cast by living things. As bringing something other that himself into the shadow nexus costs more mana, he never carries anything with him unless he knows the mission he is pulling will be a long one.
Just for fun:
Vorun
Type: Dark
Ability: Infiltrator
Moves: Sucker punch, Low kick, Fake out, Minimize
Sburb title: Rogue of Void
