i978.photobucket.com/albums/ae262/Wiremouth/FortheLulz/oHNOSHESHOT_zps08599424.png In which Alarus's genderbent version is more badass than him.
Name: Alarus
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Class: Carnomancer
MP: 30
Appearance: Tall and wiry with long, ragged black hair, skin darkened by sun and dirt, and clad head to toe in wolf pelts, Alarus is the last person anyone would have figured for a wizard. A lean face and a crooked nose give him a cruel aspect. Combined with his grisly attire, Alarus strikes an imposing figure. He has a scar splitting his lip on the right side of his face, which seems to have given him a permanent smirk. A mummified heart around his neck serves as a grim warning to enemies: whether a gruesome trophy or some sinister juju, the message is clear. While technically required to wear the carnomancer's Pinned Man sigil, Alarus prefers to use the stylized skull of Athalbegra, which serves almost the same purpose, without all the negative implications.
Past: underconstruction
Demeanor: underconstruction
Fighting style: Granting control over blood and bone, Carnomancy allows Alarus to take on foes many times his own size, dealing direct physical damage in the form of cracked ribs, torn muscle, and snapped tendons. It's a very physical form of magic requiring close proximity to the enemy, so he has to be both reckless and agile. Posture and hand gestures play a heavy role in casting.
Carnomancy is not like true magic: it does not have a mana cost. Instead, it relies on willpower, stamina, and concentration. (And a little luck from Athalbegra) It is an imprecise, organic art. Larger foes have a higher resistance to carnomancy than smaller ones, and dead flesh is much easier to manipulate than live flesh. The strength of spells is also affected by the distance between caster and target. The shorter the range, the more devastating the effects.
Alarus's control over organic tissue make him a decent healer. He can re-attach missing limbs, set broken bones, even return a person's blood to their body. He's no cleric though, and his repairs are temporary at best. That is, the wound will still need time to heal, but at least you won't bleed to death.
Alarus also picked up a bit of necromancy in his days at wizard school, overlapping with his ability to manipulate bone, though he rarely uses this.
He keeps a pair of bone daggers on hand for utility. They can be manipulated via carnomancy.
Mount: Alarus flies on 100-year-old reanimated gyrada named Grimus, three times the size of an average dragon. Though it lost its regenerative properties in death, it retained its 20% magical resistance. It currently holds the place of Alarus's sole permanent thrall. i978.photobucket.com/albums/ae262/Wiremouth/Grimusss.png
Passive
+Resilience: Alarus is able to reinforce his own flesh and bone, increasing his defense. His bones are very hard to break.
+Hunter's Sense: Alarus can smell fresh blood from far away. He can use this to track weakened opponents and injured allies.
Active
Resurrection: For a brief time period, Alarus is able to return a recently departed soul to its body. The window of opportunity varies from case to case, from a few minutes to an entire day. The souls in question are usually vulnerable and disoriented- Alarus uses this to gather information. (5 mana)
Zombie: Alarus briefly reanimates a fallen creature to fight for him. This kind of zombie essentially becomes an extension of his body, and must remain within range. (5-20 mana)
Revenant: Using an elaborate ritual, Alarus can permanently raise a revenant from the grave to serve as his thrall. Depending on the size of the creature, Alarus can have one or multiple thralls. They do not need to stay in range. (15-60 mana + time)
Mend: Alarus can act as a rudimentary healer, knitting damaged flesh and bone back together. He cannot replace lost tissue, only repair it.
Life Detect: Alarus can sense the life-forces of nearby creatures, but only for healthy, organic targets. (Demons, zombies, etc. are off the radar.) The lower a creature's vital signs, the harder it is to detect.
Blood Barrier: Alarus exerts a radial force that prevents organic tissue from entering his proximity. Can stop a charging dragon in its tracks.
Bone Spear: Alarus launches a shard of bone at the target.
Break Shot: Alarus directs a burst of force at one of the target's limbs, potentially shattering it.
*Crushing Grip: Alarus seizes the foe in a powerful grip, rooting them to the spot and rendering them immobile. He may proceed to slit the victim's throat, etc.
*Meat Puppet: Alarus takes control of a target, forcing them to perform certain movements. This cannot be used for tasks that require speed or coordination, such as running or flying, as Alarus's control is quite crude.
*Eat Your Heart Out: A gristly finishing move, Alarus cracks open his victim's ribcage like a walnut and rips out their still-beating heart.
---
*Moves with an asterisk beside them have a lower success rate. Except the last one/, that's only there for comedic purposes.
