our Scriptwriting final first draft. I figured it'd make my treatment about the first "episode" of the "next exiciting episode of-" the Bonds trilogy. We could either do the final script, which is based off the treatment, by ourselves or as a group. considering we would have to write 20-25 pages either way i opted for a group thing and they chose mine. after a couple afternoons and much chocolate we finally got a rough draft done. Sorry ahead of time for how the characters have been somewhat warped compred to the old versions, I tried not to godmode the story.
edited: final draft
o/s- off screen v/o- voice over int/ ext- interior/ exterior
EXT. PINE FOREST: DAY Fade in on shot of pine forest above the trees. Pan down to see TARLYN running from CHIMERA on forest floor. Tarlyn is a seventeen year old dark clan male, elf, black skin, red eyes, lean build, reckless and rash. Chimera, body of bear, head of lion, frilled lizard frill and tail.
TARLYN Santi! Santi! Where are you! Where the heck are you? SANTI O/S What? I can’t leave you alone for five minutes? TARLYN It was for than five minutes! Just get the heck over here!
Tarlyn starts to climb a tree and the chimera follows. The tree sags with its weight. Tarlyn jumps off and continues running. Chimera roars in frustration and follows. CUT OUT
EXT. DIFFERENT PART OF PINE FOREST: DAY Establishing shot at eye level of BOAR. We see AMBER stalking and prepping to shoot it with an arrow.
CHIMERA O/S ROAAAAAAARRRRRR!!!
Boar is startled and flees. Amber straightens up from crouch. Close up on Amber. Amber is a twenty-one-year-old female fire clan elf, greyish-tan skin, dark blue eyes, reserved, prepared. AMBER
What’s a chimera doing in this part of the forest? TARLYN O/S (unintelligible string of curse words)
FIREN swoops in from the sky for a landing. He is a red dragon with orange belly scales that look like flames, yellow eyes.
FIREN There’s your answer.
Firen lands, and Amber climbs into the saddle, and they run off towards the commotion. Camera follows. CUT OUT
EXT. PINE FOREST: DAY Tarlyn runs into a clearing a sees the base of a cliff; gets trapped. Turns with his back to the wall and draws his weapons; two short swords. He fumbles one and it falls to the ground, the other he holds up shakily. As the chimera lunges forward Firen drops from above and smacks it across the face, sending it flying int o a tree. Amber hops off bow and arrow ready. Chimera lands on its feet, shakes off the blows and jerks forward. Amber shoots it in the eye, distracting it enough for Firen to lunge forward and chomp down on its neck, snapping it and killing the chimera.
AMBER What in the hell do you think you were-- Amber turns around and sees his skin tone indicating that he is from the enemy dark clan. They both pause to assess each other. Amber keeps her weapons ready and Tarlyn takes his remaining short sword and goes into a steadier defensive stance. Firen comes up behind Amber. Amber circles a couple of steps, Tarlyn follows her with his sword.
TARLYN You shouldn’t be here. AMBER Your people are the ones who shouldn’t be here, boy.
Santi swoops in, tucking in wings before cliff top to land heavily in front of Tarlyn. Santi is a small thin black dragon with white trim markings. Santi quietly snarls in defense as Tarlyn grabs his dropped sword and scrambles into the saddle. Firen hunches over Amber in protection and Santi runs off.
AMBER Do think they are going to tell? FIREN Better make sure. CUT OUT
INT. PYRHO’S ROOM DAY Square bedroom made of stone, big rugs, solid wooden desk and table, low military bed and big open window with gothic arches. PYRHOS is a 41-year-old dark clan male, elf, dark skin, orange eyes. Very muscular and well built, many white battle scars visible on hands, face and neck. Calm and dedicated to military life. MAELA enters. Twenty-one-year-old dark clan female. Elf, dark skin, red eyes, wiry, long limbs, wings, tail. Just as much creature as humanoid.
MAELA Well, your complexion is looking darker today, much better then your Fire Clan tan. The potion has taken effect nicely.
Pyhros just glowers at her, not responding to the comment. She smile sweetly then dons an air of command.
MAELA Pyhros, there’s been another attack near the city. Why has this not been dealt with? PYHROS Please understand, Maela, that we are doing our best. MAELA Well maybe you’re not trying hard enough. I know you’ve heard the reports about your daughter. PYHROS This has nothing to do with Amber. MAELA You’re not concerned? She is alone within our lines- enemy territory for her. Need I remind you that we torture our captives? PYHROS Her well being isn’t my concern. MAELA Well, I’m glad you’re thinking like a Dark Clan too.
Before he can bite back a reply there is a commotion outside in the streets below. Pyhros and Maela’s dragons, SARATHEEN and ATHVESA, respectively, fly up to the window. Saratheen is a black dragon with orange eyes and red claws. ATHVESA is a water dragon, light blue with spikes that look like ice.
ATHVESA Maela, there’s been an incident and your presence is required. MAELA (exasperated sigh) Very well. Phyros, you shall accompany me. PHYROS By your command. FADE OUT
EXT. PINE FOREST: DAY Establishing shot of an area of the the forest where the trees thin out and become grassland. Tarlyn and Santi enter.
TARLYN Do you think they followed? SANTI What do you think? I’m not the one who keeps looking back every few seconds. TARLYN I think they’re gone. SANTI Well there you go. You know we’re lucky to get out alive. Usually it’s torch first, ask questions later with the Fire Clan. TARLYN I know that. Strange that she didn’t though. Think we should tell anyone? SANTI Duh. How ’bout the military?
As they near the city, they hear unusual, indistinct sounds and plumes of smoke rising from the buildings. Frantic dragons circle above the town. Tarlyn stalls when he sees flames burst from one of the closer buildings. Panicked, he runs towards the town, ready to do what his can to protect his city.
TARLYN I guess things haven’t changed. SANTI (nods, silently acknowledging him)
Camera follows them down the hill and into the city. CUT OUT
EXT. CITY STREETS Cut in to the streets, people are panicking, trying to defend themselves and are being cut down by the enemy. The enemies are lesser dark clan members, dark skinned, dressed as civilians. They don’t behave the same as regular dark clan members. Their fighting style is different. The enemies are mounted on dragons while the civilians are caught off guard and scrambling to find their dragon companions. Chickens and other stray animals are running amok and buildings are burning.
TARLYN What’s going on? These aren’t soldiers, they’re just regular people. Why are they attacking? SANTI Something’s not right. Look at the way they fight. TARLYN It’s different.
They are attacked before they can say anything more. A farmer attacks Tarlyn with a pitchfork and he blocks with his sword. As the pitchfork strikes his blade, a mirage dissipates for a second, revealing that the weapon is in fact a blade. Tarlyn barely manages to fend off the attacker and is only saved by Santi stepping away from the path of the blade. Santi uses his tail to knock the enemy rider off his dragon, then strikes the rider across the belly and leaves the enemy to slowly die in a bloody pool of blood.
SANTI Maybe we should have thought this through.
Several more enemies round the corner and rush in their direction.
TARLYN It’s too late to back out now.
Tarlyn braces himself for battle and parries the blows of the new enemies. He and Santi get pushed back towards a wall. Santi dives in and bites an enemy dragon on the neck. Another enemy strikes him with a sword and he pulls back. The cut leaves a trickle of blood dripping down his neck.
TARLYN Are you okay? SANTI I will be if we live through this.
They dodge a few more blows and Santi’s haunch hits the wall. He spreads his wings in an attempt to fly but the enemies crowd around leaving him no room to flap his wings. Suddenly an enemy is struck down from behind and the girl from the forest and her dragon fight their way through the pack of enemies.
TARLYN You again!? What are you doing here? AMBER Come off it. You know I’m saving your ass. FIREN Enough, there’s no time for this banter.
Tarlyn and Amber fight off the remainder of the group of enemies together. Among the jostled crowd, Tarlyn sees the face of his girlfriend, SILVEY. Silvey is a dark clan female; elf. Black skin, red eyes. Small build. Hair up in elaborate braids. Tarlyn starts towards Silvey but is blocked by another group of enemies. Tarlyn and Amber continue to fight for a short while longer, then the enemy begins to retreat into alleyways and the outskirts. Soon they have disappeared completely. The panicked crowds shuffle and Tarlyn can no longer see Silvey.
TARLYN Silvey? Silvey! I’m over here! Santi, did you see where she went? SANTI I didn’t see her at all. TARLYN I gotta make sure she’s okay!
Still riding on Santi, Tarlyn continues to look for Silvey as the crowd quickly dissipates.
TARLYN I can’t see her anywhere. Let’s check her house.
Tarlyn heads to Silvey’s house. Meanwhile, Amber is attempting to escape the city as the enemies retreat. Guards are forming blockades and the streets are too narrow for Firen to take off. Amber realizes people are beginning to notice her different coloured fire clan dragon.
FIREN We can’t go back the way we came. AMBER damn it.
Amber turns around to see Tarlyn heading down a clear route. Seeing no other options, she decides to follow him.
AMBER We may as well follow that kid. FIREN Anything that gets us off the street. FADE OUT
EXT. CITY STREETS; DAY Maela and Pyhros enter the street. They’re armed and ready to take on any new enemies. They scan the chaotic streets scanning for enemies. In the flurry of panicked civilians reuniting with their landing black dragons Pyhros sees Firen the giant red dragon.
CLOSE UP: AMBER ON SANTI CHECKS OVER HER SHOULDER BEFOREDISAPPEARING INTO AN ALLEY
Pyhros stares off in that direction for a moment before turning around to see Maela with a mischievous smile.
MAELA Speak of the devil. *pauses and thinks for a moment* You know what? Why don’t you capture her? She’ll make an excellent convert. PHYROS *remains silent* MAELA Or I could just have you kill her if that’s what you prefer.
Pyhros stares at Maela in dismayed shock, then turns back in the direction he saw Amber.
MAELA Have fun. SWIPE OUT
INT. TARLYN’S GIRLFRIEND’S HOUSE; DAY Tarlyn barges through the door into SILVEY’S HOUSE. The room has wooden beams and is made of plaster. It’s a woman’s room but not frilly. The room is disheveled, as if there’s been a fight.
Tarlyn looks around frantically. TARLYN She’s not here! Something’s happened. SANTI O/S What’s happening? TARLYN She’s been kidnapped!
Amber walks into the room looking both ways to check that no one’s seen her before closing the door.
AMBER V.O. (Mentally to Firen) This will keep us out of sight for the time being, but we’re trapped in the middle of an enemy city. They’ll kill on sight after an attack like this. FIREN O/S Best not to be seen then. Amber thinks on this a moment. Tarlyn is packing a bag in the background. AMBER Boy, do you know illusion magic? TARLYN What? AMBER Illusion magic. Do you know it? TARLYN No. I barely know sword fighting let alone complex magical stuff. AMBER Calm down. I need to disguise myself to escape here alive.
Tarlyn pauses from packing a beat.
TARLYN Why are you even here? Did you follow me? AMBER Yes. I need someplace to hide. In case you haven’t noticed I’m Fire Clan in a Dark Clan controlled city. TARLYN Believe me, I noticed. *stares at her suspiciously* But you don’t act like Fire Clan. AMBER *offended* Oh? How are Fire Clan supposed to act then? TARLYN I don’t know. Evil and stuff, burning everything. AMBER Not every Fire Clan member is like that. TARLYN But some are? AMBER Look, I need your help to get out of here. TARLYN I’m not helping you, how do I know you’re not one of them? AMBER I saved your life. Twice. TARLYN Well there’s that. But I need to find Silvey, she’s been kidnapped by those bad guys. AMBER But weren’t they Dark Clan? TARLYN No, definitely not. AMBER Then who were they? They used illusion magic so they can only be Dark or Light clan, and they rode on black dragons, you don’t just rent black dragons. And they didn’t look painted. Not to mention the Light Clans been gone for decades. TARLYN You said yourself they used illusion magic, there’s no knowing what they actually looked like, but they can’t hide their eyes with magic. Their eyes were pale. AMBER So, that means... maybe Light Clan then? TARLYN You mean that people who don’t exist anymore attacked us? That’s just wonderful. AMBER It would certainly make finding them harder, not to mention if they do still exist they’re using illusions to keep themselves hidden. You’d have to find someone or something to dispel the magic... TARLYN I know what I need to do then. AMBER On your own? No offense but you’ll never find them on your own. Get me out of this city and I’ll help you. TARLYN I don’t trust you, Fire Clan. AMBER Go and die then.
INT. DRAGON STABLE AREA; DAY FIREN V.O. (To Amber) It would be best not to antagonize our only hope of aid.
The STABLE is a large wooden room. The floor is sand and there is a large woolen blanket on the floor in a clump that has seen better days. There’s a window into the house so the dragon can see in and a water fountain in one corner. Santi is sitting on his blanket and is staring at Firen like a watch dog. Firen is sitting casually in the opposite corner and looks cramped in the small dragon’s stable.
FIREN Your companion will get himself killed on his own. It would be in your best interest to let us help you. SANTI Or we could turn you in. FIREN Then you’d still go off and die looking for the Light Clan. You need someone to help you, and no one else will believe you. SANTI Just tell me one thing. Firen nods. SANTI Why didn’t you attack us back then. FIREN *pauses* You didn’t look like the bad guys.
INT. TARLYN’S GIRLFRIEND’S HOUSE; DAY Amber is standing in a corner with her arms crossed and one hand on her chin and biting her lip. In deep thought. Tarlyn is packing pots and pans and relatively useless items, he clearly doesn’t have any survival training.
SANTI O/S (To Tarlyn) They’re right, you know. We’ll need their help. TARLYN V.O. (To Santi) Why are you on their side now? SANTI O/S (To Tarlyn) Let me guess you’re packing the pots and pans and next you’re going for the rolling pin.
Tarlyn looks at the rolling pin in his hand and puts it down with a sigh.
TARLYN (to Amber) Ok, fine. What are we going to do?) AMBER We? TARLYN Yes. We. First, I’ll get you out of the city, then you help me find the light clan and my girlfriend. AMBER Well first, you pack like a granny, boy.
Amber dumps his bag upside and a torrent of junk comes out. TARLYN
It’s Tarlyn. AMBER What? TARLYN My name is Tarlyn. Tarlyn offers her his hand. AMBER Oh. I’m Amber. She takes his hand and shakes it. FADE OUT
EXT. CITY STREETS; NIGHT The gang is heading down the STREETS. Tarlyn is leading Santi who pulls a cart with great effort. Amber is on the cart wrapped up in robes and a scarf covering all but her eyes. Firen is on the cart covered in a blanket. His tail is poking out at the back.
FIREN Are we almost there? TARLYN Almost. hold on for a few more minutes. Santi purposely rolls the cart over a rock. FIREN Ouch Santi snickers. TARLYN It’s just around the corner. AMBER Shhh. Quiet.
A GUARD appears around the corner. He instantly notices them and categorizes them as suspicious.
GUARD Evening. TARLYN Evening. GUARD What are you doing at this hour. TARLYN Helping my grandma move this pile of dirt. AMBER (pretending to be a grandma) *cough* He’s such a helpful boy.
Tarlyn smiles at the guard.
GUARD Alright, carry on.
The guard raises his eyebrow and shakes his head and let’s them pass. He walks off but turns around after they pass and sees the red tail sticking out from under the blanket. He widens his eyes and runs off to report the sighting.
INT. PYRHO’S ROOM; NIGHT Pyhros is working at his desk. Maela walks in without knocking.
MAELA Working hard I see. If it was me, I would have caught her by now. Pyhros looks up from his paperwork. PYHROS The city is locked down, there’s no way she’s leaving. It’s just a matter of time.
Maela scowls.
MAELA Well hurry it up, I still need to find out whoever it was that attacked us. There’s a knock at the door. PYHROS Com-- MAELA Come in.
A guard enters.
GUARD Evening sirs, There’s been a sighting of a fire clan dragon near the outskirts of the city. MAELA Ooo, there’s your cue.
Pyhros stands and heads to the door.
EXT. BLACKSMITH’S SHOP; NIGHT They are OUTSIDE A BLACKSMITH’S SHOP. There is a huge set of billows, made for a dragon to use. And a large pile wood. Everything is fireproofed really well, like unnecessary amounts due to the dark clan’s fear of fire. A large rain barrel is beside the building with pipes and pumps leading off in all directions.
TARLYN Alright, we can ditch the cart from here on out.
Amber removes the scarf and robes.
AMBER Why are we here? TARLYN The loading area leads outside the city walls. It’s back this way.
Tarlyn fumbles with some keys and eventually gets the key in the lock and turns it.
TARLYN uh, oh. AMBER What? TARLYN It’s already unlocked. AMBER Great. TARLYN That means there’s someone already in there. AMBER A guard? TARLYN Or worse. My boss. Let me go in first. Amber stops him. AMBER Let me sneak in and knock him out. TARLYN You don’t know my boss. He’s a monster. AMBER I’ve seen real monsters. TARLYN He doesn’t like... you’re people. Like, REALLY racist. AMBER Well the whole idea is to NOT be seen. TARLYN Well then. *salutes* Good luck.
Tarlyn opens the gate and gestures for her to enter. Amber goes through in crouch mode.
EXT. SUPPLY YARD; NIGHT The SUPPLY YARD is a large yard area surrounded by stone walls. There’s a large pile of wood in one corner and valuable ores locked in sheds. All the flammable stuff is well protected. One wall is shared with the city wall and there’s an exit to the outside world. Amber hides behind the pile of wood and checks out the situation. There’s a GUARD and a BLACKSMITH taking near the exit. The blacksmith is a dark clan, dark skinned, red eyed, stout, muscular elf. He’s older, past middle age old and marked by many years of hard labor.
BLACKSMITH I paid top dollar for a protection spell, no one can get in here without the key. There’s no need for you to be here. GUARD We’re on lock down, every exit needs to be guarded. I’m sorry, no exceptions.
Amber snickers to herself.
AMBER V.O. (To Firen) There’s two of them, a blacksmith and a guard. No sign of their dragons though.
EXT. BLACKSMITH’S SHOP; NIGHT
FIREN There’s a blacksmith and a guard in there. She can’t take them both out at once. She needs a distraction. TARLYN *nods* Right. Tarlyn walks through the gate.
EXT. SUPPLY YARD; NIGHT Tarlyn walks in.
AMBER (whispers to self) What is he doing?
The guard notices Tarlyn first.
GUARD Who goes there?
The blacksmith turns and recognizes Tarlyn.
BLACKSMITH What are you doing here, boy? TARLYN Uuuuuuuuummm....
Amber silently rushes forward and hits the guard on the back of the head with her dagger hilt. He collapses. The blacksmith hears the guard falling and turns. He sees the fire clan girl and gets snarls.
BLACKSMITH You!
Amber stabs at the guard with her dagger but the blacksmith dodges and grabs her by the arm and twists it. Amber drops the dagger.
BLACKSMITH When I’m done with you, fire rat you’ll be glad to be a pile of ash--
Tarlyn hits him on the the back of the head with a scrap piece of metal. The blacksmith goes down. Tarlyn shakes with the piece of metal still in his hands.
TARLYN I can’t believe I just did that. AMBER Congrats, kid.
The blacksmith grunts and starts to stand back up. Tarlyn is surprised yells and hits the blacksmith over the head again sending him down again.
TARLYN I can’t believe I did that again. AMBER I think we should get out of here fast. TARLYN I’ll get the door.
Tarlyn unlocks the door and Amber brings the dragons into the supply yard. They go through the exit and are mounting their dragons when the GUARD’S DRAGON lands in front of them. The guard’s dragon is black and wearing armor that matches the guard.
TARLYN Oh, crap.
The dragon sees the fire dragon and roars loudly. There’s a moment of silence and then other dragons roar throughout the city.
TARLYN They’ve set off the alarm. AMBER No time for niceties then. Firen, you know what to do.
Firen takes a big gulp of air and blasts fire at the dragon. The dragon shies off to the side clearing their take off zone.Santi and Tarlyn are also shocked and stand in stunned fear for a moment at the sight of the fire. Amber and Firen take off.
AMBER Come on, hurry. That won’t distract him long. TARLYN I’m right behind you.
Tarlyn and Santi launch into the air and follows after Amber at top speed.
EXT. SUPPLY YARD; NIGHT Establishing shot of gate exit from the outside. About ten minutes later Pyhros flies in on Saratheen from the side, dismounts and marches to the gate.
PYHROS Are you okay? What’s happened here? GUARD *groans* There was a kid...and then I was hit on the head. PYHROS Was it a fire clan girl? GUARD No, dark clan boy.
Pyhros frowns. The guard rubs his forehead and thinks for a second.
GUARD My dragon saw that though. *pauses and listens for a sec* She had a red dragon and they blasted fire at him. PYHROS Did he see where they went? GUARD *pauses* To the south.
PYHROS gives a meaningful look out the door to the grass that is still aflame.
SARATHEEN O/S It hasn’t been long, we can still catch them. PYHROS But do we want to? SARATHEEN O/S We have our orders. PYHROS Orders aren’t everything SARATHEEN O/S But your life is and you’ll lose both yours and hers if you don’t obey. PYHROS Well, might as well give them a five minute head start.
Saratheen gives a disapproving grunt.
PYHROS We wouldn’t want it to be too easy.
FADE OUT END CREDITS

Great! Curiously, what was your impression of it? Like, the characters and the world. My friends (while we were writing it) didn't like how we had to take into acount for the dragons too, especially at the end there. And that is how long a 25 min. show would be
