Kudos to Kauria for helping with this!
You come to the ruins of the great ancient temple, located in deep underground caves under the Ancient tree. You can see the roots of the giant tree enveloping the place, protecting it from cave ins. Only a handful of original walls remain, covered with strange runes. This is the wall of history. A magical place that will survive every disaster and all life. A place where the history is magically recorded, so if the life on Dragon Essence is destroyed, new life or colonists will know the history of a great civilization who lived here before.
The Spirits
In the time before time, in one of the infinite nuzmber of alternate realities, a nation called "The spirits" ruled majority of the world. The spirits were 3 races living in harmony. The first, Elementals, or the spirits of nature, were etherical manifestations of elements themselves and their population was the greatest. The second, Sofians, ot the spirits of life, were spiritual beings manifesting skills and character properties. The most powerful, the Celestials, were transcended beings beyons space and time. Their power was so great, that they could travel between realitiaes and create physical bodies for themselves.
The greatest Celestial of them all, Farion, said the spirith of faith, dominated most of the worlds by wisdom and culture shock, spreading peace and harmony among old enemies, uniting them under his toodledge. Everything was fine and the universe was improving, until another Celestial entered the universe. His name was forgotten and cleared from history, and all who know it do not dare to say it, afraid of summoning him. He started war with Farion, and conquered half of the universe. Since then, the evil one was known as the spirit of oblivion. When the collapse of his empire was imminent, Farion joined the battle and banished the spirit of oblivion back to their home, the void between realities. The universe, however, was so disbalanced by their battle, that everyone and everything was lost. Only the spirits survived, due to their spiritual essence and no need for physical body. A giant blak hole created as a way to banish the spirit of oblivion started swallowing up the whole universe, slowly cumulating the matter of the universe into one spot, so a new universe can be born when the critical mass will explode. The spirits fled with Farion's assistance to another universe.
The Earth
To their surprise, they found out that the second universe was young, and freshly formed. Only one planet was populated. It's inhabitants called it differently. Aurora, Gaia, The World... But in the history, it came to be known as Earth. What the life of this universe lacked in numbers it gained in variety. The Earth was populated with countless forms of life. On Earth, there lived two dominant races: the humans and the elves.
The elves were longer-lived, stronger of mind, and possessed the innate ability to manipulate the elements, but the humans had physical strength, cunning, and an endless supply of determination. Through the minimal contact between them, it became apparent that there was no open hostility, but to most humans, elves were a myth, and the elves tried their best to avoid the humans altogether.
A younger race than the elves, the human population was growing quickly, and its members constantly sought new land to support themselves.
To avoid the noise and conflict of human society, the elves constantly retreated into the wilderness. The hope among the elders was that the humans would someday be content with their own lands, but the elves' desire for peace and isolation led them to underestimate human ambition.
Now, as the Spirits arrived in the universe, the elves had been pushed to the most remote of lands, a race on the verge of disappearing forever— and with them, Farion saw, would die centuries of their knowledge and wisdom.
So the spirit intervened.
In their weakened state, the elves' only hope lay in their magic. Indirectly, Farion inspired the six most powerful mages to create a race of guardians to help the elves rebuild their broken people.
The bodies of these guardians were easily crafted by the mages, but in order to breathe life into them, the elves had to splice their own souls, tying each to his or her guardian for the rest of either life in an eternal bond.
These creatures strongly resembled Farion's previous physical form, yet the elves drew their name from the heart of human lore. It was a marriage of the universes, and the product was an entirely new race.
Dragons.
Aside from the elder mages, however, few elves possessed the required power to create a dragon of their own. There was one temporary exception, though.
An expectant mother carried two souls within her, and for a short time, carried twice the magic. Under the guidance of the elders, they could split the malleable soul of an unborn child into an egg that would hatch at the child's birth.
This knowledge was buried deep within the minds of each dragon, to arise only if their bond conceived a child so the dragon could aid her through the process.
Farion was very interested in Dragons, as they reminded him greatly of the form of his previous physical body. He created eight great dragons, known as Elemental dragons, to seed life around the universe.
The colonies
The Elemental dragons started seeding habitable worlds with all forms of life. It is known that they seeded 5 worlds. The first World, called Ghaen, was seeded by Dragons only. By evolution, they lost their elemental powers and become easy prey for more primitive life forms. The elemental dragons came to help and called on the Elementals, who agreed to lend their powers to Ghaen's dragons, saving them from destruction. Nothing is known about the next two worlds. Rumors say, that whatever the reason, the elemental dragons covered all evidence. The fourth world was a complete success, as it was seeded also with elves, and the two races were stabilizing each other. However, it was ended by a great disaster when a meteor storm disintegrated most of the land. The arrogance of local elves and dragons led them to ignore the warnings sent by the Elemental dragons. Whoever survived was later killed by an extreme vulcanic activity. Nothing of the world survived except it's name - Atlantis. The elemental dragons decited to seed one final world, now that they knew all mistakes they made with previous worlds. The last world is known as Dragon Essence, and it was seeded with Dragons and Humans. The curious nature of the human race prevented the arrogance caused by elves and the world survived for long enough that the Elemental dragons decited for it to be their home. They led the specific clans and taught them all their wisdom.
The war of the Elements
However, the drak elemental dragon, Desperanus, was not satisfied. He wanted to rule the entire world and spread his mental imprint among his clan. One day, the sky clouded with black storm and the armies of the dark clan, led by Desperanus, struck the Light clan, their most formidable enemy, by surprise. All of the light dragons were killed in the slaughter, with only Tarasana, the Elemental dragon of light remaining. He and the remaining elemental dragons united the rest of the clans and finally defeated the dark clan. After that, the only problem remaining was Desperanus. They wanted to destroy him, but he managed to break their lines by striking Neurtin and sending her to the far continent. Without her, the elemental dragons couldn't destroy one of their own, so they made a noble sacrifice. Ending their ofw physical existence, they sealed desperanus magically under the ground and contained their energies within magical stones, the elemental hearts. They also created a failsafe. A weapon, in case Desperanus was ever to return. A powerful being, the Star spirit. After that, the seven remaining clans returned to their lives.
The war of the Clans
The civilization was restored, but not for long. The dark clan never forgot their defeat, and new war broke out. While the events of the war were important for sure, the most important group were the renegades - the youngest generation of all clans, led by a hero named Blaze, avoided the war and saved every piece of civilization that could have been destroyed during the war. The war ended, but it was not over. The group gained new members and settled on the land previously controled by the fire clan. But new threat was knocking on the door.
Sol'Lux
Among the new members was Sol'Lux, The weapon of the Elemental dragons, hiding herself as an energy dragoness. As the time progressed, she prepared herself and a handful of new warriors for the return of Desperanus. They collected the Elemental hearts, containing the essence of the Elemental dragons. The souls of the Elemental dragons revealed Sol'Lux's true purpose to the world, but not before Desperanus broke free. Sol'Lux accepted her fate and took control of all the elemental hearts, granting her control of the element of life. With this powers she called on the souls of the fallen light clan and defeated Desperanus, restoring the land to it's balance before the war of the elements. However, it cost her too much power. She was no longer able to sustain her physical form and changed into a spirit form, returning to the star she was created from - the sun of the 1st world, Ghaen, to restore her powers- Before that, she passed her star powers to her newborn son.
The Disease
The civilization rose once again, with one difference - the clans were never reestablished to prevent more wars. A new era begun, but the dragons were not favored. A new enemy appeared, spreading a magical disease through the world. The heroes of Sol'Lux's time, along with new generation, took the challenge to save their world once again. The fight against the disease was not going well, but an old friend was summoned to help - Sol'Lux returned. Her power was depleted shortly after thet, with Desperanus' last attempt to return. They defeated him once again, but a Sofian came to enforce the will of the Elemental dragons. Sol'Lux was offered to join their ranks, or remain on Dragon Essence as a normal light dragon. She chose the second option and remained. With the complete team, they went to the Drak Catacombs, where their enemy waited.
