This probably isn't finished, might change somethings later. But for now I'm posting it so you can all get a good idea of what the red rager will have been up to.
Time: Few months after games 2
Taranis was sneaking back into the den, it was long past midnight and everyone was sound asleep by now, or so he thought.
“Where have you been?” Gorn was wide awake and staring right at Taranis.
“I...uh...”
"You're not very stealthy, Taranis, this is the 6th time in two weeks . What have you been up to?"
"I've been training."
"Training? For what and with who?"
"I...I can't say."
"What do you mean you can't say?"
"You won't like the answer alright! Just leave it."
He tried to walk past his father but Gorn stepped right in front of him. "You're gonna tell me right now young man." Taranis said nothing. "Well?" Gorn asked again. "Grandma, I've been training with grandma." Gorn was confused, Sol hadn't said anything about teaching Taranis or really anyone for a while, "What do you mean? Sol would have told me beforehand and she never would have you out this late." Taranis sighed, "It's not Sol, it's Evera. I've been training under Evera." Gorn's face filled with rage, "WHAT!?! How dare she-" Taranis interrupted, "How dare she what? Actually show interest in my skills and potential? Ya I know WHAT A CRIME!" Taranis again tried to walk past Gorn, but he stopped him once more.
"Hey, I'm not done talking to you, and don't interrupt me! You know, ever since Lantea left you have been acting aggressive. You've been avoiding us, you sneak out til late, and you're just angry in general." Taranis put his head down, "So? Not like you care." Gorn glared at his son, "Of course I care, we all do. But you're letting this ridiculous jealousy get the better of you." Taranis stared straight at Gorn, "Jealousy? You think I've been upset because I'm jealous?” He snapped, “I'M ABSOLUTELY ENRAGED! I've worked myself to no end to become a great fighter, spent countless hours and days practicing, I even won my division at the games but does anyone respect that? NO! Lantea gets to go out and learn under the great names and hell even Ciro was offered training by several elite dragons, but has anyone ever considered me for anything? After everything I still have no one willing to teach me but her! But just because she did something terrible in the past you won't let her!"
"You don't know her, Taranis."
"Neither do you!"
"I will not discuss this. I forbid you from seeing that horrid women!"
"You can't make me!"
"As long as you live here I can!"
"Well then maybe i shouldn't, maybe i should follow Tea's actions for once and LEAVE!" Taranis turned around and started to head out, but once again was stopped by Gorn.
"You're not going anywhere, son."
Taranis stared Gorn straight in the eyes, "Wanna bet?" Without even moving, Taranis lifted Gorn off the ground, then threw him like a rag doll against the walls of the cave, "Everyone thinks they can boss me around because they have some sort of special power and I'm just some dumb fire dragon brute, well NOT ANYMORE!" With one more toss he dropped the stunned and speechless Gorn to the ground. "I'm going to prove once and for all that I am the best and no one is going to stop me!" With that, Taranis stormed out of the den.
2 years pass...
Taranis stared at the oak in front of him. Slowly he began lifting it out of the ground, but the roots caught in the dirt and kept it in. Clenching his teeth he put more and more power to just rip it out until he finally gave up. "GGRRRR THIS IS STUPID! Why am I even doing this?" He turned to Evera shaking her head. "Don’t focus on the base, pull out the roots first then try. You must learn to use your power quickly and effectively.” Taranis tried to do as she instructed, but pulling each root out seemed to take forever. Then one caught on something and refused to budge. With a loud roar Taranis ran up and destroyed the tree. Evera sighed in disappointment, “If you can't lift a simple plant, then how are you going to combat an Earth dragon who has rooted themselves into the ground?" Taranis scoffed at the question, "Easy, burn his ass!"
"And if he has an earth shield up?"
"I'd break it down."
"So you'd waste your time on a shield not only using your energy but leaving yourself open for a trap and or an attack?"
"I could take it. Think an earth dragon could take me down?"
"You put too much faith in your endurance, Taranis. One of these days you will run into another foe like Jet that you can't just simply out punch. And if you're not too careful, they will be your last."
"You know, that sounds just like something Lantea...would have..." The thought of his sister reminded him of his family. He hadn't seen or spoken to any of them since the day he left. He never said goodbye to his mom, and poor Ciro, losing both his siblings near the same time. "Think I'll ever be able to go back there?"
Evera gave a slight smile, "That depends on you, do you think you're ready to go back?"
Taranis dropped and shook his head, "Not yet."
Evera nodded, "Then in that case, get back to working on the trees."
6 years pass...
"What do you mean 'disappear'?" Taranis asked Evera.
"I mean, leave and remove any trace of yourself, it's no longer safe for you to be around me." She frantically replied.
"What are you talking about?"
"I should have told you this, but there is a group known as The Black Guard, a division of The Blaze Order no one really knows about. I can't explain now, but to sum it up they're after me and anyone I'm in contact with. I don't know how but they found me, and as long as you're here you're in great danger."
“Can’t I just come with you?”
“No, you can’t face The Black Guard, not yet anyway. Right now you need to continue your practicing your skills.”
Taranis still didn't understand, there was nothing he could do.”Where should I go then?”
“Anywhere. The guard don’t know you’ve been training under me so as long as you keep that a secret you should be safe.”
Frost flew in next to the two, "We have about a d-d-days head start on them, we need to leave now."
Evera nodded and turned to Taranis once more, "Once we have dropped off their detection, I'll find you and we can begin our training once more."
Taranis took a deep breath, "Alright, stay low you two, I'll be waiting."
With that, they all left in different directions.
2 years later...
An orb of darkness went right past Taranis’ head as he closed in on a dark dragon to deal the final blow, knocking him out cold. The circle of dragons around them began booing, Taranis simply made an obscene gesture with his arm and walked off, but a voice came from the crowd, “Hey, hot head, wait up.” Taranis turned around to see an old rival. “Jet? What the hell you doing here?”
“I could ask you the same.” She looked at all the angry Dark dragons, “But we should probably talk elsewhere.”
Once they had left the crowd way behind, Jet punched Taranis in the face.
“OW! What the-?”
“You have to be kidding me! Ten years nobody’s known where you are and you’ve just been bar brawling?”
“No! I was being taught by my grandmother until she had to leave for...reasons. Why do you care anyway?”
Jet shook her head, “You really are something. After you left your family never heard from you or your sister, every year at the games I could tell it was getting harder for them. Your dad especially, I think he blames himself for you leaving.”
Taranis was taken back, “It wasn’t his fault. I threw my usual temper tantrums and stormed out, he was just trying to look out for me.”
“Well he doesn’t see it that way, you might want to go tell him that.”
Taranis turned away from her, “And say what? Hey guys, sorry I abandoned you all to train with Evera. Oh funny story, she left me also and now I’ve spent the last 2 years fighting others because I don’t know what I’m doing anymore! Aren’t you so proud?”
Jet rolled her eyes, “They won’t care, Taranis. Hell you probably don’t even need to say much, just go see them and let them know you’re still alive.”
Taranis hated to admit it, but she was right, “Alright, I’ll leave tomorrow and visit them.”
Jet gave a smile, “Good.”
“Hey, you never told me what you were doing out here anyway?”
Jet laughed, “I overheard a few dark dragons talking about a dumb fire dragon that came in and beat the crap out of everyone in their gang. Sounded a lot like the only dragon to ever beat me in fight, so I thought I’d check, and make sure he knew there was going to be a rematch one of these days.”
Taranis grinned, “You’re on.”
With that, Jet turned and flew off, “And next time you’re gonna need more than those fancy mind powers of yours.”
Taranis just gave a laugh, then looked towards energy peak, it was time to head home.
