Athvesa snarled as the dragoness suddenly collided with his side, and he reached out to rake her with his talons. Just as quickly, it seemed, she pulled away, looking almost distracted.
------
Maela winced slightly as the strip of light snapped to her left, powering up once with her wings as she waited for the bright afterimage to fade. She twisted downwards again, diving with the pole held close to her chest and the point directed at the fire elf. Just a scrape would be enough, but he keeps holding me at arm's length.

Saratheen turned away, kicked at her opponent to propel the both of them away from each other, before heading ground-side. She shot down and pulled up a few dozen meters from the surface. Then she glided along quickly to locate Pyhros. Her own fight had taken her a ways away from her bond and it took a minute to find him. When she did she saw him stumble on a fallen body, falling himself. She raced over, dodging other battles around the camp, and came to a skidding stop behind the cloaked figure that was now her most loathed enemy. With a rumble of earth and a roar the red Dragoness rose up to smash the enemy with her entire weight.

A roar ripped itself from Athvesa's chest as he lunged at the rising fire dragon, summoning a water orb in one hand and an ice spell in the other. He collided with Saratheen, bringing his talons around to slam the freezing spell into her chest, the magic fueled by angry desperation and a fear for his rider's life.
------
The fire elf took another step back and stumbled slightly as he trod on the corpse of a slain rebel. The second of unsteadiness was all Maela needed. She streamlined her body even more as the bellow of a distressed dragon erupted behind her. Veering slightly to one side, the edge of her weapon scored a shallow groove in the shoulder of the warrior, the wound filling with the tranquilizing poison. She banked sharply, swinging around to land behind Pyhrros and steady him with one arm. Maela whipped her spear forwards, the glistening edge of the head pressed directly against his throat, and waited for Saratheen's attention.

Saratheen was coming down- then wwoumph. The blue dragon that was obviously her bonds opponents enemy's dragon was in front of her. There was a tight needling sensation in her chest ans Saratheen pulled up and stumbled to the side. All along the front of her chest scales was thick blue ice, some of it had even "grown" to dominated a section of her lower neck and upper stomach. She wiggled a bit to crack and shake off the chilling nuisance when she felt something wrong. Pyhros's mind was pulling away slightly, becoming clouded. Sartheens neck whipped around to stare at her slumped rider and the pair that had accomplished it. She saw the nick, and she saw the staff. Saratheen's eyes narrowed to slits in a venomous glare and her muzzle began to smoke between the teeth again, though she wouldn't fire with Pyhros there and unable to jump away. "Pyhros?!" "Drugged...heh, getting too old... for this." She hissed with anger, frustration and hatred, though under it all fear.
(OOC: note when he got nicked the flame whips dissipated due to lack of energy and concentration.)

Maela smiled brightly as the dragoness' golden eyes met hers. "Glad to see you're listening now," she remarked, lifting the tip of her halberd slightly in a mock salute. "I'm afraid that we could only bring enough poison to tranquilize your rider, but I believe that the circumstances, you won't be needing any." Athvesa settled, pulling back with a rustle of his wings as he held the globe of water in one hand, his frost eagle settling on the opposite shoulder. "You're going to accompany us on the threat of your rider's life," he commanded, his tone icy. "Hopefully with as little resistance as possible." Maela edged closer to the two dragons, balancing the elf's limp body against her forearm. Athvesa crouched, never taking his eyes off Saratheen as his own rider lay Pyhrros across the saddle. "Now, do you think we could possibly trust you without a muzzle of some kind?" he asked as Maela fished a length of chain from one of his side bags. All around the formerly undisturbed campsite, fire crackled as it devoured the remaining canvas tents, seeping hungrily across armored corpses. It would be a waste of effort to try to flush out the survivors before rebel reinforcements arrived.

With a glare now concentrated on the cloaked rider Saratheen continued to snarl, but the smoke dissipated and her jaws clamped shut tightly. "You sure you can't move?" "I think I can twitch a finger." Pyhros responded with dry humor. There was a mental sigh. The fighting was mostly over, there was nothing left to be considered a camp anymore. A more accurate word would be a minor, if not bloody, scuffle. With a snarling huff Saratheen straitened and held her head proudly high. All of them were only mortal. This pair would die eventually, and hopefully, by her claws, fire and teeth. ----------------------------------------- Amber rode Firen at the tip of their loose formation. With all the speed in their wings and paws the sped for the combat grounds. They were a few minutes away when they finally say the black trickle of smoke and the orangey glow of flames. Amber made a signal and those of them on the ground to take to the air to come in as quiet as they could. Firens eyes glowed yellow in the light and Ambers glowed black. Amber unstrapped her bow from the saddle and took out a red feathered arrow. Hopefully they weren't too late and they would arrive to survivors instead of pure carnage.

Lulu raised her head from the body of a smaller dragon she had just gored, nostrils flaring. "Determined blighters." she cursed, snapping her still-twitching opponent's neck with a deft flick. Jack came running up, sheathing a dripping sword, his long ears pricked back in alarm. "Do you hear them, Lulu? They're coming!" "I know. The rebel reinforcements are on their way." "What? What do you mean, rebels?" Jack asked confusedly. "What do YOU hear?" "What do you hear?" returned Lulu, slightly unnerved. "You don't hear the singing?" Lulu stared at Jack. "You goin coco for coco puffs on me, sport?" "Aaah!" Jack yelled, clinging to Lulu's leg as a gray mist began to roil across the ground. Lulu plonked the chattering Jack on her head and peered into the thick fog. She could hear it now; an eerie, songlike laughter echoing faintly about the canyon walls. "Oh. Looks like the Dead have arrived." said Jack, regaining his composure. "What the heck is that supposed to mean?" Lulu asked in consternation. Jack pointed. Hundreds of immaterial nightmares loomed from the engulfing fog; headless children skipping and singing, giant spiders with men's legs and torsos, creatures with row upon row of eyes covering their bodies, etcetera. The foglike illusions landed on each fallen soldier in turn, drawing from them an equally contorted and horrific spirit that joined their ranks. "Eheheh, I hope they're on our side." Jack laughed nervously.
((Fillerpost! No, I didn't summon an army. :'D The thingummies are just mist illusions.))

Sid got to the archers before they could fire a second time. Swinging his axe he smashed one in the middle, yes, smashed. As soon as the blade touched him he froze into ice, and the axe was still going so it smashed him. However Sid still did not have full control of this weapon due to his lack of strength, he span about 2 times before stopping and checking to see where the others were. they had jumped back and aimed to fire again, but they forgot one thing, he was in the middle of them. they fired and he ducked down, several of the archers killed each other. only one had realized what would happen and saved his arrow, he quickly fired hitting Sid in an open part of his armor around is gut. Sid stumbled trying to get up after that, but the archer was loading another arrow so he had no time. Jumping up he charged and destroyed the archer, but only after he had fired his second arrow. Sid fell to the ground unconscious.

Jack grimaced, balancing himself on Lulu's horn as the illusions drifted by. "They are Sluagh, you say?" asked Lulu, flicking at a drifting skull curiously. The skull shrieked and dispersed into mist. "Yep, Sluagh. The Unforgiven Dead. The touch of the living is poison to them." "Bit of a design flaw, one touch and they're dead." noticed Lulu, licking one of the skipping children and watching it writhe and fade away. "They appear at the site of grand massacres, though they've been known to follow Angels..." Jack's voice drifted off. "Angels...?" Lulu asked, following Jack's upward gaze. Several eerie, winged shapes were flying in formation above the mist. Lulu shuddered. "How do you know this?" "They're not part of my world, nor yours. They exist somewhere in between... So you're very likely to run into them when crossing the worlds. That's the only place they can do actual harm." Jack said matter-of-factly. "Riiight. We should probably warn the Generals." "I don't think they're dangerous. Not those ones, at any rate." said Jack, watching the Sluagh swarm over the corpses of the fallen. "Rebels, remember?" "Oh, right." Jack's ears twitched.
General! Leucrocuta called, trying to send a mental message to Athvesa. Rebel re-inforcements detected flying towards us from the east! Should we attack or withdraw?

Athvesa raised his head slightly as he received Leucrocuta's message. We can pull back now. All that needed to be done has been accomplished, he thought back with a faint smirk directed at Saratheen. "All done!" Maela announced, giving the strap holding Pyhrros a final yank and pulling herself onto the saddle just behind him. She flicked back her hood, wiping droplets of sweat from her forehead as she surveyed the ruined refuge. "Let's get out of here before we go up in flames as well." Athvesa opened his shimmering wings, still watching the fire dragoness, and leapt into the air, catching the billowing updrafts from the denser part of the blaze. You'd better follow, he warned her, banking sharply towards the reassembling Dark Clan force at the mist-filled end of the canyon.

Leucrocuta nodded at the returned message, subsequently jostling Jack. She unfurled her wings and powered into the air. "I guess this means means we're retreating?" asked Jack, dangling his legs over the side of her head and holding on tight. "Aye, no point staying, the damage has been done." Lulu replied, grimacing at the sight of the carnage below. The Sluagh seemed unaffected by the wind from Lulu's wings, engulfing the canyon below in mist. The dragoness evened her wings and soared over the abyss, drawing up with to rest of the party. "Take no prisoners, eh?" she remarked upon seeing the bound Fire Clan prisoners. "Everyone in one peice?" asked Jack optimistically as they sailed alongside.

Saratheen hissed, but did as she was told. Glaring into the back of the riders head she kept close behind him.
------------------------------
Amber's rescue group got there with a roar just as all the Dark Clan were taking off. Half the group gave chase for a few dozen seconds but turned back when it was obvious that the enemy was retreating. Then guards were set up around the perimeter (just in case) and everyone else busied themselves with controlling the fires and finding survivors. A hour later they had thirteen survivors, 8 of them being their own soldiers. Amber was doing one last sweep of the ravaged camp site when something glinted to her right. Thinking it was another weapon that had been missed in the first search (they couldn't afford to pass up the chance for ready weapons), she headed over to it. Keeping a distance from the fire that had caused the glint she picked up the blade. It was a blade that was very well made. Large, but nicely balanced. The hilt was well used and at the cross guard was a gold plated piece of metal which had the designs of flames engraved into it. Amber had seen sword designs similar to this but something about the sword nagged at her. Amber shrugged the feeling off and took it over to Firen, strapping it onto his saddle. She'd hold on to this blade, instead of it going to storage to be used by other people. "What's that for?" Firen asked. "Nothing, I think. I found it in the rubble." "So why are you keeping it?" "I just have a feeling that it's important." Firen didn't say anything else but still gave her a questioning look. "Is that everything?" Amber yelled to her troops when everything was finished. The sun was now peaking into the cavernous rocks. They all nodded, tired and sore from the nights exertion. "Ok then, lets head back."

Red lived a secluded life, in a village called Inoa by the shore of the Ranmir. He, his brother, and his father made a living off tanning hides, making leather. Therefore their last names were "Tanner."
Red finished preparing the last peice of leather and put it on the rack to dry. Red was excited about the next day because it was the expected day that the first of the travelling market would arive.
The traveling market was large event for a small town away from the major events. It consisted of merchants come from the big cities of the human country. It was a time when people came to sell and buy good to and from the villagers. Along with it came a traveling circus and a whole bunch of entertainment. It was the biggest event of the year for the village of Inoa.
That meant for Red and his father and brother Enyard, that they needed to get prepared to have the leather and leather goods to be ready to sell. They had been working at it for over a week now, working furiously.
Red, exhausted, went into the family house, eat a quick meal without a word spoken to his brother or father, then made his way into his room and collapsed onto his bed asleep.
(Was told by Morty about part 2 of this. She says it will probably be over soon, so I will just copy and paste this when the next one comes out. =P)
