Jack blinked owlishly. "Found it." said Lulu, backing through the door, dragging a nightmarish apparatus in with her mouth. "Holy heck, what IS that thing?" "Well, it's supposed to be used by dentists when pulling rotten teeth, but this works fine too." said Lulu, setting the thing down. It looked a bit like a bit, but with more straps and rusty parts. "Does it come with a manual?" asked Jack, poking the heavy harness with his foot. "Stand back." advised Lulu as she struggled with the apparatus, attempting to fit it onto Saratheen's head. "Stay still, would you!" Jack snickered.

Saratheen tried to hamper their attempt to get the thing on her head but only managed to ward them off for a short time, seeing as she was exhausted and wounded. The full on glare had returned, penetrating the pair.

"Erp. Got it." said Lulu, finally managing to fasten the unwieldy harness. "Now, uh..." "Here you go." said Jack, proferring the syringe. "Nuh-uh. You said you'd do it." "No really, I insist." "Aagh, get that syringe out of my face!" snarled Lulu, swiping at it. "Okay, okay. Yeesh. You'd think it was boiling live babies, the way you're going on about it..." "Mmmm. Boiled babies." "You're a riot, Lulu." said Jack sarcastically, balancing on a stool to reach Saratheen's level. "Eh, nothing personal." said Jack to the prisoner dragon, fumbling with the syringe. "You're holding it wrong." said Lulu, sitting comfortably a safe distance away. "Why don't you do it? You're the expert!" whined Jack. "Are there even any veins in here?" "Sure, check under the tongue." "Ew!" Lulu rolled her eyes. Jack sighed. "Fine." he said, gingerly picking up Saratheen's tongue. "Eeew, it's all soggyyyy." "You're such a baby!" "Don't pressure me!" cried Jack, closing his eyes and jabbing the syringe under the poor dragon's tongue. "That took you long enough. Let's watch and see what happens." Jack quickly hopped off the edge of the stool and scampered to where Leucrocuta was sitting, wringing his hands.

"That won't be much of a problem," Maela said, steepling her fingers as she crossed her legs. "I'm just going to ask a few questions as soon as you feel ready, and we'll se where it goes from there." She leaned back and called over her shoulder, "Time, Athvesa." "Timing," the ice dragon replied hoarsely, turning a large silver hourglass. The faint hiss of the falling black sand filled the silent room and Maela reached for a dark package identical to the one she had given Jack. "As soon as the top bulb is empty, we're just going to test something out, okay? Let me know when you think you can talk clearly." She spoke slowly, as if explaining something to a child.

Saratheen rolled her eyes at the little elf's squeamishness, then winced slightly as the needle pierced the tender underside of her tongue. At first nothing really happened, then the red dragon felt dizzy. She blinked roughly as her vision blurred up a bit too. With a stumble backed up a few steps, making the chains holding her rattle. Saratheen was unable to keep her eyes focused and her limbs felt increasingly wobbly. Finally she succumbed to gravity and she stumbled to the ground with a "oof". She was now blinking rapidly. A few minutes later she was passed out and in the empty blackness of unconciousness.

Pyhros gave a irritated look. "I'mh drugged, not slohw." And yet he had to wonder what this experiment was.

"Good, you're getting easier to understand now," Maela remarked, flicking a gray flake of ash from her cloak. "I think it'd be a fine time to begin now." "We have just a few quick questions for you," Athvesa said with a glance at the rapidly draining hourglass. "If at any point they make you feel uncomfortable, simply stay silent and we'll move on to the next question. This isn't an interrogation, after all. If you cooperate and let it flow like a normal conversation, we'll be able to run experiment and then let you rest sooner." Maela stood, kicking the stool away and striding closer to Pyhrros. "Ready, flame champion?"

(OOC: oh, that name is coolio.)
Pyhros tried to move a bit to sit up straighter, though was only able to shift his shoulders a bit, making the chains tinkle. Non the less he looked her strait in the eye. A shimmer of a smile from the name appeared for a second. "Come'ohn then."

(OOC: Maela referred to Amber by the same title in the previous thread. Thought it might be neat to assign a similar reputation to her father. ;D)
"Alrighty then," Maela said with an impossibly wide smile before turning away from Pyhrros, slender tail swishing. "First things first— that name I called you just then, does it mean anything significant to you?"

(OOC: good going there. ^-^)
Pyhros attempted a shrug, though he thought it turned out miserably, "I'm Fire Clan. Ahside from the fact thah I once was ah high rahnk I got a piece of your leader."
(OOC: note amber was young when her dad disappeared, gotta calculate how long though. also the only thing hampering phyros speech now is that he pronounces the vowels thicker and misses some t's.)

Maela gave no indication of whether or not she found his response favorable and simply kept on pressing for answers, her back still to Pyhrros. "And in the Fire Clan, did you have any family?" The Master had already explained much of the fire elf's history, but it was worth checking to see if the captive was willing to tell the truth.

Pyhros became more guarded, pursing his lips he said nothing. Even though he did and they might still be alive there was no way he was going to tell the enemy about it. No need to direct their attention elsewhere.

Maela sighed when Pyhrros didn't respond, glancing back over her shoulder at the elf. "Really, I'd hoped that we'd make it a bit farther than that. If that's what you want, then." She turned, dropping to sit cross-legged on the floor in front of the chair. "How many years has it been since you last saw your daughter? Does she even know you're still alive?" Does he even know she's still alive? Athvesa asked her warningly. Ten minutes left in the timer, by the way.

Pyrhos still didn't say anything. How long had it been? Thirteen years was a safe bet, though not a very comforting one. Looking for feedback on weither he should tell them he gave Saratheen a mental prod. No answer. Concerned he gave another with a call of her name. Still nothing. His brow furrowed, concerned. He looked up to the hourglass, the sand trickled down to blend with the quantity at the bottom. And why did they need this interrogation -for that's what it really was behind the facade- to be timed? Finally he answered. "Doesn't matter if she knows or not, it wouldn't help her now." He tried to straiten again, succeeding this time. Putting on a dry grin he looked down and shook his head. "One way or another my fire will be extinguished in this place, to my prides dismay."

Not quite in the way he may expect, Athvesa thought with a smirk. Really though, this is getting wearisome. There are more effective ways of extracting information, you know, he added. Maela closed her eyes and stood, stretching slightly. "So where exactly have you been spending your time since your run-in with my Master? We had one heck of a time trying to find you." She strode over to the marbled lab table, delicately unwrapping the package she still held in one hand as she waited for an answer. "Last question, then we try something new."

"Here and there." Pyhros responded vaguely.
