"Drakine? Again? Boy that kid sure gets in a lot of trouble." Zarin turned his attention back to Naima. "We first need to see if everyone is ok. you never know, someone could be under a building right now. But after that." Zarin thought about it for a moment. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to send the less trained ones off, the more experienced should be able to make up for that."

"Oh come on!" Shya-tael called after Starlight, her shoulders dropping. "Not fair!" But the red dragon still crouched down, her chest scraping the ground as a smile spread across her face. Shya took off in a streak of scarlet, pushing off the ground only once more before she launched herself into the air. "Don't suppose you could start running, Zarin?" she yelled excitedly into the wind. "That cheater gave herself a head start."

Starlight laughed her voice carrying down to Shya, "Here's a lesson for you, surprise is one of your greatest allies. It's not my fault you weren't ready."

Shya snorted in mock anger, deciding not waste her breath on further arguing. A warm breeze began to brush over the tops of her wings, and the fire dragoness smiled again. Even if she couldn't win this, she could still give Starlight a race. She dipped her wingtips suddenly, scooping up onto the thermal and shooting closer to the ice dragon. With a slight spark, flames shot down Shya's spine and the dragoness pulled into a delighted barrel roll just above and behind Starlight.

Starlight looked back out of the corner of her eye, delight twinkling. Then, taking her hands, she rubbed them along her scales. Where ever her hands passed left the slightest sheen of ice, filling in the ridges of her scales. The lack of grip would reduce wind friction and allow her to speed up ever so slightly. When she was finished she folded in all her limbs tightly and started to slip ahead again. At the speed the two dragon were going any onlookers would only see a pair of blurs. Starlight's eyes slitted against the wind. She could just see the many figures of dragon milling about in the distance.

Shya let another laugh escape as the wind rushed past, pumping her wings harder in an attempt to keep up with Starlight.
"You sly little ice lizard..."
The fire spread out across the undersides of Shya's wings, adding to the rolling currents of warm air keeping her aloft and allowing her to maintain her distance from Starlight while gaining altitude.

The small figures were getting bigger with the decrease in distance. The setting sun outlining their forms. From Starlight's quick peeks behind her Shya was still behind, but slowly creeping forward, flying higher in the sky. "Close but no golden nugget." Starlight murmured happily. The dragons ahead were now basically right on top of them. Starlight expertly spun up, flapped forward once, and landed with a pose (one arm in the air, the other at the side). "Who's the Queen of Speed? Me!" When starlight had taken her arms away from her body the ice she placed chipped away in places, so they now sparkled in the sun as they fell. "Good go, Shya. You'll definately earn your graduation. And even if, if Zarin doesn't graduate you then i'll do it myself."

Zarin walked next to star then circled her a few times. "8 in speed, 7 in effort, and a 10 in landing. good work." He then walked over to where Shya was hovering. "7 in speed, 10 in effort, and seeing as you haven't touched the ground yet i cant judge you yet."

Starlight giggled. Then falling to all fours she shook off the remaining ice, flinging little pieces of liquid ice all over the place. "Well? What's the plan Oh Great One Eye General?" she said teasingly.

Shya gave a laugh and spiraled even higher in a flash of flame-colored wings. Illuminated against the setting sun, fire spread across the remainder of her body, dancing harmlessly over crimson scales. She reached the peak of her climb and somersaulted once, her long tail creating a glowing trail in the sky as it followed her motion through.
Carried away by the thrill of flight, she released her building joy in one last, triumphant cry before she arched her spine, angling herself for an almost-vertical descent.
"Look out below!"
The fire dragoness flattened her wings against her body, streamlining herself for speed. Shya dropped from the sky in a steep dive, looking for all the world like a dragon-sized meteor as the flames fanned out behind her.
Just because I didn't win doesn't mean I can't lose in style, she thought with a grin as she prepared to snap out her wings for a landing.

Starlight whooped happily, clapping her hands at the display. Other dragons around them stopped what they were doing to see what all the excitement was about and watch with amusement. Starlight skittered back and out of Shya's way, still grinning.

Zarin watched cheerfully, when she landed he blinked a bunch as all the students watching clapped. "Did that really happen.....wow i haven't seen anything like that in a long time, if this was a camp for performers YOU would be in charge."

Shya flicked her wings open ad the flames dissipated in a gust of heat. She pulled her neck up abruptly and her claws touched the ground in a gentle landing.
(Baw, now what? ;D)

"Ok people." Starlight said turning to the dragons around them after the cheering stopped. "I know we all wan to rest and all but we have stuff that has to get done before that. Lets get to it." She turned back to Shya. "How about you and me go check out the stadium and move out the rubble? I think it remembering taking quite a beating."

"You heard her, come on lets get to work here people." Zarin said as he left Star and Shya. He started looking around to see what need to be done. "I want a few earth dragons to begin repairs on the dens. we about 3 fire dragons over there on the target course. Water dragons, we need our pipelines running again, or else we're all going to be very thirsty."
