This is a thread for sharing impressions and ideas about characters and Dragon-Essence in general. They can be about your own characters (e.g. tidbits of varying canon-ity that you want to share but don't want to put on a profile), other people's characters (the creator can confirm, deny, or even adopt these!) or just aspects of the DE world not covered in the other world-building threads. And of course, they don't have to be serious at all. If you have a funny idea about a character, this is the place to share it.

Headcanon: Despite its complexity, dark clan society is still very tribal, with the leading families claiming affiliation with and/or descendance from particular gods. Lower classes do not have particular gods attributed to them. Worship for commoners does exist but is not treated with the same seriousness or prestige as the noble religions. ('Religion' is a sort of dubious word for this since most if not all of the entities worshiped by the dark clan do exist on the infernal plane, or beyond.)

Your turn! I got more but they're mostly about my own guys. X;DD (E.g: Iskander stole the skull as the result of a bet with one of his older siblings. )

When Thorondar was being formed in his mother's womb to take on the hard shell of an egg. His father would practice strange blessing rituals that he would cast on Flaisa before he was born "It was for good luck!" he would say. Wrathus even named him "Thorondar" for reasons unknown while his mate never even heard of that name or the the reason why to name him that. She didn't even know that their hatchling would be a male. Truly, Flaisa wanted to name him "Volcanis" because of her kin's elemental if he was really a boy, but Wrathus denied it and stood with the strange name he would call his future son.

The humans that live on the island of Dragon-Essence are all considered really, really weird by the continent folk, at once stupid and admirable for eking out a living in the midst of dragons and gyrada and goodness knows what else, even if most of them are just farmery bumpkins.

Headcanon accepted. Here's another: The large majority of humans are non-magical-- and not just cause they've never been trained. Unlike dragons, who are innately magical, the ability to do magic is hereditary in humans. Not like blue-eyes/brown-eyes hereditary... more like, say, schizophrenia. Having magical parents does not necessarily mean you'll be magical. The same goes for if neither of your parents are magical: if you've got an aunt, or a great-great-grandfather, etc, with magical abilities, there is a chance you'll inherit that. (In other words, magic skips generations.)

Headcanon: Gorn still has marks from that time he was captured and tortured by the wizards.

Lok'tus' huge ax is still sticking out the ground where he and Thoron first fought.
A.K.A: Somewhere buried in the incinerated plain ever since that blast from Blaze. Probably near the nearly leveled mountain! XD

Headcanon: Wizards wear a sigil on their belt representing their class/the type of magic they practice. Theoretically, the shape of the symbol represents the class (druid, cleric, priest, etc) while the colour represents element (air, fire, shadow, etc). Of course, the interpretation of sigils is not set in stone, and there are usually a variety of symbols that can represent the same class, sometimes even overlapping with other classes. Some wizards feel uncomfortable representing themselves as practicing a single element. Sigils even vary from region to region and even between demographics. For example, Vitaly, a shaman, wears a crescent moon sigil. In the northeast where he comes from, this simply means he may serve as a spiritual adviser and maintains a connection to the unseen world. However, to an outsider, it would be easy to mistake him for an order of Moon Priest, a la Silewe. His colours, desaturated grays and browns, could mean many things-- air magic, earth magic, "soft-dark", or something else entirely. (The important thing isn't really the specific element but that it's definitely, for example, "not-fire", or "not-water".) Furthermore, wizards don't always use the "proper" sigil, for various reasons. Another example, this time Alarus: As a carnomancer, Alarus is sort of expected to wear the carnomancer sigil, aka the "Pinned Man", thus marking him as an exceptionally dangerous spellcaster. Due to the nasty implications of this symbol and carnomancers in general, he prefers to wear a symbol similar to one used by necromancers-- in this case, a stylized skull. To certain savvy mages, however, this particular skull is recognizable as the sigil of Athalbegra, a prominent god of death and gore. (So in a roundabout way, Alarus does fulfill his social obligation of broadcasting his carnomancer status. And who's gonna confront a carnomancer about the way he wears his sigil? Nobody, that's who.) Thus, sigils are often unique to the spellcaster wearing them, and don't always tell the whole story of that person's range of abilities. In effect, belt sigils are pretty much like band t-shirts. If someone is wearing a Metallica shirt, chances are they like Metallica. But that's probably not, you know, the ONLY band they like.

*engulfs headcanon like a single-celled organism*
Acceptance having been stated, I really do like this one, though I'd probably take anything you say about wizards as canon.
