"Reeealy." Starlight slited her eyes a bit, a glint of something behind it but could have easily been mistaken with anticipation. "Well, this time," she stopped walking, "maybe you'll be ready," wings up, "to," one mighty flap, "GO." And starlight was off!

"I'm too mature for thiiis!" Shya half-yelled as her wings reflexively cycled forwards and launched her into the air. She pulled alongside the other dragoness and stuck out her tongue. "Next time, I'm holding back."

The pair of Dragonnesses raced head to head for most of the way back to camp, neither one really gaining a long lead. The finishing stretched wasn't as flashy (literally) as the first one due to both being tired, but they both still had fun. As they headed for beds they bickered on who had won. With full bellies and happy hearts they curled up and went to sleep.
All was quiet. All was calm. By the time the moon was high everyone was fast asleep, no one stured. No one, but one lone ice dragon. Blue scales glowing white in the moonlight and red tinted eyes glinting with the blood pendents spell, she drifted though the mass of scales and tails. Silent, searching. Then near the edge of the group she found one of the many things she was looking for. Slipping off the pendent, she set to do what the enchantment bid her to do.

Shya snapped awake as someone ran across her tail, springing into startled action. "What's going on?" she demanded of a worried-looking healer. "An earth dragon...at the edge of camp, something's wrong!" he stammered. "An attack?" "W-we don't know yet." Shya snorted in annoyance and launched herself into the air, following the path of the other concerned and curious warriors.

Starlight was awake instantly, and for a few seconds stared blankly. It was gone quickly though, replaced with worry and a slight curiosity. "Come on. We should go see what's up. Then we can tell Zarin about it, unless he's already there." Starlight was on her feet and slipping through the stream of dragons already heading to see their companion. When Starlight got there she had to push her way though to get to the dragon. In the middle of the crowd was the earth dragon she had fought in the arena before. But this time he wasn't so arragant. He wasn't anything at all. He was twitching and shivering like crazy. Another earth dragon and a water dragon were attending him to try to find out the cause. "What's wrong with him?" They both shook their heads but it was the water dragon who responded. "We don't know. As far as we can tell he's had a massive energy drain. The only way that could happen is if he gathered all his energy into a single blast and went over his physical bounds. Of course that's impossible considering we're all standing here. We have no idea how this occured."

Dragons started moving out of the way as Zarin came through the crowd. "Whats going on here?" he said as he got to the center. He then looked down at the earth dragon. "What happened?" a water dragon came up and told him the situation. "It seems he's had a massive energy drain." "Do we know the cause?" "No, we're still working on that." Zarin looked at the dragon again and sighed. "Is the medical center fixed?" "Almost, we just need to fix one of the walls." "Okay, get him back there and start using anything that replenishes energy. Once hes got enough to star regenerating his own again let him rest for a few hours. After that let me know and ill ask him about what happened." "YES SIR!" The dragons went over and picked him up and took him away. "Man, i swear, everyday i wake up to something like this. First training accidents, then mass mutilation, and now this. Cant i have one day were the only thing that's hurt is lunch?"

Starlights turned to look at the Zarin, she had a odd look, but it was gone under a mask of concern. "Hey Zarin, why don't you go back and check up on the other groups you said you had. You know this place is mostly back in one piece, not to mention you should make sure that the same thing isn't happening anywhere else."

"I just got back, and now you want me to go and check up on them again? If i wasn't thinking the same thing i would say your trying to get rid of me." Zarin walked to where no one was in the way. "I'll be back 'in a flash'!" He said as he ran then blotted off with his lightning speed.

Starlight didn't say anything as Zarin left. Turning back to the healers she said. "Ok everyone, this matter has been attended to. Yes we're all worried, you can check his progress later. For now busy yourselves finishing the clean up or training." Starlight didn't say anything else as she walked off.

A flicker of suspicion flashed in Shya's narrowed eyes, but it was quickly swallowed by concern. She galloped after Starlight, pulling alongside the other dragon. "Are you...okay?" she asked, her voice rasping slightly. "I mean, a lot of crazy things have been happening lately, so I don't blame you, but don't you think that was a little harsh there?

"Hmm? Maybe, I guess... well maybe it's just my patience." Starlight said with a shrug. "All those dragons acting like helpless hatchings sometimes. I would totally not cut out as a mother." She added jokingly. "Not to mention if a war broke out again then they would have a rude awakening. Hey, i'm not fealing the best right now. I'm going to go lay back down. Excuse me." Starlight said pulling back and going around the main camp back to her bed, leaving Shya behind.
---------------------
Indeed Starlight returned to the camp -and received odd looks from a few of the dragons too- though instead of resting she sat and watched with slitted eyes. At first glance it would appear as if she was sleeping. She waited and watched, looking again for something. All the while the ice clouded pended pulsed a weak glow.

Cautiously, Shya picked her way across the sleeping area, picking a different spot than her usual, closer to where the accident had taken place. She shrugged off the sidelong glances from the earth dragons and curled up so she had a clear view of the nearly-rebuilt arena. The shadows lengthened as the sun set and the fire dragoness slept.

The next morning all the dragons woke to find two more dragons in the same condition as the first. Everyone was now anxious and edgy, though Starlight insisted they continue their solitary training. She even made some more flying targets. Everyone put the incidents to the back of their minds and it seamed to have remained forgotten, at least till the sun was setting. Everyone was returning to their beds, everything was quiet except for a few murmurs or weary good nights and congrats on the day.

Shya kneaded the ground in frustration as the dragons around her prepared to go to sleep. She had no doubt now, given the circumstances of each "accident," that dragons were being attacked, but there didn't appear to be any pattern. The condition wasn't terminal, but it was alarming nonetheless that a camp of warriors could be so spooked by the threat of meeting a similar fate. Shya shot a glare across the sleeping area at where the shadow clan dragons were settling down. Not all of them slept through the night, yet they appeared largely unconcerned by the sudden affliction that had claimed three other dragons, all from different clans. Admittedly, accusing them would probably be fueled by a leftover grudge and a bit bold at this point, but they were the prime suspects in this matter. One of the more nocturnal dragons shot Starlight an odd, almost-warning glance as he stretched his wings out. That's right, Shya remembered as she turned her attention to her friend. She's been acting unusually for the past few days. Her eyes narrowed to orange slits as she stood up straighter, the simple observation suddenly holding greater meaning. Star must have seen something she shouldn't have. Those cowardly snakes are trying to keep her quiet!

Starlight came walking over to Shya. The moon was now down to a crescent, barely giving any light. "Hey Shya, earlier I thought I saw something hidden in the bushes on the outskirts of the other side of camp. I covered it up some more and left it, didn't want the others to see it in case is spooked them some more. I can't figure it out and I thought maybe you could have a go."
