Battle Training

"Oh?" Shya asked, a faint shiver running down her spine. "It relates to the recent... cases?"

[Midnightmoon]

"I don't know. It could be something else entirely. That's why i need a second head. Come on, it's this way." Starlight turned and headed strait to the edge of the groupe and into the forest, calling over her shoulder. "No need to wake everyone up and alarm them. Should take the long way around."

[Kauria]

Shya peered curiously after Starlight, unable to shake off the chills, but she followed reluctantly, her muscles tensed.

[Midnightmoon]

Indead they took the long way around, though as Starlight led her friend along they got deaper and deaper into the forestry. By the time she stopped the moon was rising in the sky. "Hmm, I know it's around here." Starlight mumbled, looking about turning around she seamed to be backtracking slightly in search of the thing. The dark shadows of trees and clouds darkened Starlights scales. Then she whipped about and knocked at Shya in a attempt to unballance her. The pended glinted with a equoing red tint eminating from Starlights eyes. For the past two nights she had gathered energy, tonight would be the last...

Shya stumbled back with the blow, her face reflexively contorting into a snarl despite her alarm.
"What are you doing?" she roared, her talons erupting into flame in an attempt to ward off the ice dragon.

[Midnightmoon]

Starlight didn't say anything, only continued to lunge and twisting to avoid counter attacks. Any time she got a hit ice would expand and cling to the fire dragon.

[Kauria]

"Fine then," Shya hissed as she retreated back several more steps to avoid the freezing swipes. "I don't know what's wrong with you, but let's see how that sparring match would have ended."
Fire shot down the dragoness' spine, ending in the characteristic blaze on the end of her tail. Shya sprang into the air, her jaws open and her spread claws held close to her chest.

Starlight gave a snort and stopped for a second. Then swept her hands slowly over her arms, turned to get her legs back and tail and finally over her head to result in her ice armor. And yet with a shake it all changed, spines extended all throughout it and ice made a large spiky blade at the end of her tail. Finally her spine fin froze solid. With everything in place and both dragons ready the lethal dance begun.

Shya twisted in midair, slamming down on the ground with both hands and releasing a wave of heat from the point of impact. Without pausing, she whirled on Starlight, a conflagration building in her throat.

[Midnightmoon]

Starlight reared back, flapping her wings to blow her own wind of chilly air to cancel out the heat, and yet her ice armor glistened with perspiration. Standing on her back legs she readied a double ice beam attack. Hands on either side were glowing with swirly ice.

Shya extinguished her building attack upon seeing the twin ice spheres forming in Starlight's hands. A single ray can't stand against two, she thought with a hiss of frustration as she ducked down, the flames on her back surging.
There's gotta be some other way... In the split second before the ice beams were released, a faint glimmer of red at Starlight's throat caught her attention. The image drew her mind swiftly back to the day before the first attack. Wasn't there something then, too?
The shafts of ice lanced across her vision in a sudden flash of blue light, and she flattened herself to the ground just below their point of intersection. The fire on her spine flickered out from the intense cold, but Shya forced herself forward, her claws blazing orange as she lunged at Starlight's neck to free the pendant from its icy shell.
"You've been doing the attacks all along, haven't you?" the fire dragoness screamed, bringing her hind legs up with the first attack. Even if she failed to loosen the gemstone, hopefully she could pin her friend long enough to understand why.

The only response Shya got was a hiss as Starlight tried to wiggle free of her grasp. Twisting around she tried to aim either her hands or head at the red dragon to blast a ice beam that would render her helpless.

Shya growled, pulling back her lips to reveal her teeth as she placed a glowing hand on her friend's throat, ice seeming to sink away below it. A sudden blast of ice slammed into her shoulder, forcing the red dragoness to roll away with the impact. One hand clapped on her arm, Shya struggled to stand, her orange-gold eyes aglow as she finally decided to break her own promise and delve into the mind of another.

[Midnightmoon]

Starlight rolled away. Getting up again she seamed to brush something off her chest plate and when she removed her hand the plate was whole again. Red tinted eyes that seamed to glare at Shya looked back up to her before the blue dragon crept forward. With a lucky hit the red dragon seamed to have been slowed considerably and it was time for the last phase. Collection.

Shya-tael grimaced, swallowing as if to keep the stinging pain down. She looked up, her glowing orange eyes locking onto Starlight's red-tinted ones as she prepared her mind for the attack. Her eyes slammed shut in a moment of intense concentration as she picked out the ice dragon's mind from among the many others and attempting to force her way into her friend's thoughts.
