Deka grunted, twisting to test the fit of her armor. The earth dragon fitting her shook her head and tightened the plates across her haunches. "Tail," she said, stepping back.
Deka obliged and lashed her tail. The movement was even weightier than she'd expected, but the pieces remained snug.
"That should do, then. You won't be taking that off again until you're off-duty, so take this time to get used to it. If it needs any adjustments, see me or one of my apprentices right away." The armorer gathered her materials into a small pack and left the chamber.
Once she was alone, Deka at first moved hesitantly, but she was soon whirling and testing every combat move she could think to perform on the ground, feeling the way the added pounds of protection pushed on her whenever she changed direction. Ancestors, earth dragon armor is heavy!
Her wing muscles gave a twinge of distaste at having to lift any more weight after her recent acrobatics. I'll hardly be able to fly. Then again, that seemed to be the case with plenty of earth dragons, anyways, so perhaps it didn't matter.
She didn't need to be fast. Sturdy and fire-resistant were more important qualities in this battle, both quite thankfully imparted to her by the armor.
Another dark dragon wearing similar armor stuck his head into the armory. "You ready to escort some deliveries? It's a night's walk to the pick-up point, and I think the earth dragons are getting antsy."
Deka turned to face him, violet eyes gleaming with confidence. "Well, then let's not keep them waiting."
