"What is he doing? Did ho forgot we are on a tree? He will burn all of us!" Lantea cried out as several branches above the arena caught fire. She looked at her new companion and they nodded, heading there. Sonia tried to extinguish the fire by sending massive gusts of wind on it, only to make the fire even bigger, earning a punch to the shoulder by Lantea. "Good magic, bad direction. Watch'n'learn." she said and said an ancient formula out loud, sending a vacuum blast she was preparing to face Jet with had she stayed in the competition. The air only disappeared for a few seconds, but it was enough for the fire to die out. The air dragoness smiled and nodded, starting to do the same. "Atta girl!" Lantea said happily, leaving her to it and heading down to the lake. "Don't touch the paint if you know what's good for you. Although maybe it might not be so deadly for you right now." she said, shielding her face from the heat still radiating from her brother. "That was awesome, how'd you do that?" she said with genuine approval. She had no bad feelings towards Jet, the air witch got what she deserved. She was going to try and knock Taranis down a peg too, but he didn't seem quite OK, and she was about to tell him about mom, so she saved it. "Are you allright? Anything broken?"

"Oh, for Desperanus' sake," Metrus sighed, trying to bury his alarm with exaggerated unconcern. He crouched beside Pandora's battered form, healing magic the color of deep blood oozing out from the palm of one hand. On contact with an open cut, its dim glow spread to fill the wound, the reddish light seeping into the other injuries. Beneath Metrus' touch, the bleeding slowed to a rapid halt, the scratches scabbed over, and scales mended across the deep grooves. "This is why it's a bad idea," Metrus muttered to Ourias, "to pick a fight with a creature that hunts dragons, even a little one. Go see if you can get someone to send some energy herbs this way, then go look for the beast's body. She said something about two miles thataway." Ourias started off with a wary glance at his father, but the herbs arrived quickly enough, and the little black dragon disappeared into the woods with a flick of his barbed tail.

Pandora huffed painfully then coughed, *cough, cough* "Don't mind the dragon hunter's spear, It's mine." She re-imagined the fight remembering where she left the spear. In her recall she saw the weapon's shaft and blades sticking out the back of the twenty foot creature's head, while it resting in a puddle dyed red with the sharp tip protruding out of the bird's right eye. A smirk appeared once more under her mumbling dark tone, "Yeah that giant is dead alright, no need to worry." She felt her wounds heal but her small wing was still too painful to move along with the rest of herself. The dragoness gazed at her hurt wing trying to show it to Metrus by painfully staring at it. *sigh* "I think my wing is broken!" She mentioned the last second to the dark healer.

Taranis hadn't even considered he might have broken something and after the beating he took he probably had. He gave himself a quick check up, surprisingly, he was still in top condition. "No, nothings broken... I don't know what happened, I just kept getting angrier and angrier until, THAT happened." He stared at his hands, still amazed by all this. "Maybe mom knows! Where is she?"

"Yeah, about that..." Lantea sighed, taking a look to the lake, "We found out she's sick. THere is no cure, but fortunately it is nothing life threatening, as long as she doesn't use magic. Grandma might have it too, but i'm optimistic. Ciro took it badly though. I'm gonna ask him if he wants to go be with them instead, but as i said, as far as my knowledge goes, they will be quite fine, so if you want to finish here, it's OK." she suggested, "Oh yeah, and dad is somewhere around here, running for his money." she snickered.

"I see." Metrus' lean fingers wrapped around the wing's arm, lifting it slightly. "Here, I think," he said, leaving one hand over the fracture point to run the other across the remaining length, "and," he added with a wince, "here. Painful, yes; life-threatening, no, but I'll see what I can do. Hold still—mending what I can't see can be tricky, but your shadow blood should help." The black dragon closed his eyes and curved his neck, feeling the claws of one hand sink into the lush grass beside him. He drew the energy out of the surrounding plants, snapping open their veins and pulling their strength into himself. A brief moment of giddiness as the new power recollected itself, then lanced down into Pandora's wing. The bones ground together in search of an even fit, and the shadow magic laced around the fractures and fused both breaks together. When some of the magic found its way back to Metrus, he sent it shooting across Pandora's scales in search of further unseen injury. "That should do the trick," he said, stepping back to shake out the stiffness that seemed to accompany the more difficult healing spells. "Remind me again why you went looking for something that very nearly killed you?"

Pandora got a paw full of the energy herbs laying in front of her and devoured them before she gazed at Metrus. "I was running; I mean looking for something to test my skills on," the dragoness looked away for a brief moment almost as if she just made her hunting trip sound more then just a training exercise, "I was wondering around in the woods in search of easy prey until I saw the beast, so I went after it not thinking how ruthless it was." She looked back at the forest noticing a dark figure lurking in the shadows staring right her. Until he found me and tried to capture me by impaling me with his Spear of Void to a tree. "I had to finish the creature off quickly or lay prey to him as well, and well there he is, lurking in the shadows before the tree line." She finished to Metrus while staring at the shadows with her lips pealed back revealing her white sharp fangs. "He's there in our midst!"
Pandora's taunting look suddenly turned to fear as a glint of light reflected from the shade. "GET DOWN." She yelled as she recoiled and jumped into Metrus knocking him out of the way just enough when her spear blew past them impaling into the ancient tree fifty feet behind the two dragons. Pandora recovered and looked back into the forest witnessing Void vanish back into the shadows. The dragoness backed away and gazed up at Metrus in an apologizing tone, "Forgive me but an old enemy has found me and he seeks to finish the job from the forest attack earlier. Thanks for your time and energy, I will repay you someday." And with that, she made a break for it into the crowds of other dragons first running past Scourge and toward the light dragons working on an up coming event. ------------------------------ Scourge on the other hand looked slowly to his right as he rested his back against the ancient tree after hearing a *chink* next to his iron horned head. The demon raised a demonic eyebrow when he saw the human spear embedded into the tree bark not even a foot away from his right flaming eye. He hummed out a quiet and evil laugh then remained in the same place not even curious from where the spear was launched from, not even worried if another came his way. Scourge did see the small dragoness run past him though and into the crowds which caught his interests, so he leaned off the tree and slowly began to pursue the small female through the crowds. Something in the dragon's blood drew him like that of a human's though so this could be bad!

"What are you—" Metrus choked off the rest of his sentence when Pandora rammed into his chest. "Hey!" he shouted after her as soon as his breath had returned, but she was gone and a spear was quivering in the side of the Ancient Tree. "WHO DID THAT?" one of the earth dragons roared, starting his way. Metrus gave a shrug and turned his head to stare into the depths of the forest. Nothing moved in the darkness. The earth dragon pulled up beside him, his dust-brown sides heaving. "That lady a friend of yours?" "No," Metrus answered honestly, his red eyes narrowed and scanning the crowds. "Well if you see her again, tell her she needs to be more careful wi—hey, did you do this to the grass?" Oltyth snorted, lifting his feet to examine the blackened patches. "No," Metrus said again, less honestly. Oltyth made a noise in the back of his throat and cantered off, hurrying to slip in through the space the throng of dragons had made for the fleeing dragoness and one demonic follower.
------
It was oddly silent away from the festivities, the sounds of insects and the hunting cries of unseen predators taking the place of hundreds of dragon voices. Everything was stained a deep green by the heavy foliage, but it took little time for Ourias to find Pandora's trail. The scent of mud and blood clogged his nostrils, and he distantly hoped that anything bigger than himself would be similarly compromised.

Pandora was panting heavily as she made her way through the dense crowd, but something made her feel like she was being followed. The dragoness stopped and looked back through the forest of moving bodies sighting a black infernal form moving and looking toward her. At this moment she was in shock cause no one saw the giant heading toward her nor did they care about the beast, so her judgment blinded her. She began to think that everyone was out to harm her except for the one that healed her. Pandora started to back away with the look of fear as she kept an eye on the huge demon, but then she carelessly backed under a huge dragon that suddenly cloaked her in his shade. The dragoness gasped then looked behind her the last second to see a pair of black hands materialize out of the darkness and attempt to grab her hind legs. "Why is this happening to me?" She called out in terror as she escaped Void's grasp and ran into the noise filled forest as her last resort. ------------- Scourge walked up and saw the small dragon back under Thoron's form then take off again as hands as black as night appeared out of the god slayer's shadow attempting to snag the scared youngling. The dragoness then ran mindlessly toward the forest so Scourge followed after her but with much more interests then before. "Well now you are an interesting one indeed! I must know what your intentions are for running like that. You are not going to escape me!" spoke the demon as a grin of lust appeared on his face. He began his sprint by blasting through a wall of trees and pretty soon he would catch up to Pandora as she neared a grassy field. ---- The forest was loud and unsettle until a shadowy mist blew past Scourge making the wild fall silent as it approached the opening of the grass field.

"Mom is sick?" First his powers go out of control, now this? He thought the day he beat Jet would be filled with glory and triumph, but so far it was just grief and worry. As hard as all this was, he had to take care of things first. As much as he hated the water, he just dove right in completely cooling himself like a freshly smithed weapon. It was then he remembered swimming was not in his skill set. Being close enough to the edge he simply climbed up and out. "Done. Now where's mom and grandma?"

"At grandma's. Ma is recovering at the moment and grandma is probably trying if she caught it from Mom's healing." Lantea explained. "Now, Ciro is somewhere down there..." she said, pointing at the lake, "so why don't you go sign yourself off the arena roster while i fetch him?"

Oltyth spotted the black dragoness just as she bolted from the crowds and to the forest. He slid to a stop, panting, and paused only long enough to regain his breath, then shook himself out and sprinted after her, his heavy footfalls thudding into a four-beat pattern on the packed soil.
------
A grassy field opened ahead, and Ourias was struck by the uncomfortable memory of stumbling across a young gyrada in just such a place—only this time, neither Zephyr nor Dinara were here to help him. The wind quieted with an abruptness that made his spine prickle, and, nervously, the little black dragon dropped to his stomach, hunkering down as best he could in a patch of tall grass. He felt the tips of his horns brush the dirt beneath him, and he disappeared into the shadows as best he could. Something was coming.
------
Shya sank into the water, paint coming off her scales in liquid swirls. She ducked her head under and thrashed, the coolness a refreshing contrast to the sear of the hellsclover. Forcing herself to open her eyes, she could at first see nothing, but the shadowy blue-brown shapes of the lakebed gradually came into focus. Dragons swimming on the surface cast long shadows into the water's depths. In the distance, a crystalline tunnel lanced down to the bottom of the lake. None of it was her concern. Shya reared her head from the water and shook out her mane vigorously, the pain of the spice reduced to a faint sting. Would've thought I'd be done with washing off trouble with Zarin gone, she thought wryly, but his descendants seem to have other plans. The fire dragoness hauled herself onto shore, her scales dripping, and spread her wings in the sunlight. A short distance away, two of Gorn and Phoenicia's children stood by the lakeside. Speak of the devils. What were their names? Come on, they're Zil'Caron's grandchildren, you should know this! Lantea, that was the blue one, and Ris—no, Narat—Taranis! That's his name. "Impeccable memory, ash-for-brains," Shya muttered to herself, folding her wings and glancing over. That they were here meant that she'd already missed some of the junior matches, but it was probably for the better that she got some time away from the arena as well.
------
Naïma bristled in horror and anxiety and anger, her mane and feathers almost on end. A wind pulsed through the arena crowd even as the spectators realized that the young dragons' battle had been more than an elaborate act. Dragons were already working on extinguishing the small flames that had reached the lower boughs of the great tree. Below, a collection of earth, water, ice, and fire dragons set to work on cooling the arena enough to allow for safe access by the healers. Every second was too long. Naïma's stomach churned, and the dragons left near her paced in helpless frustration. It had been a children's battle! Not even the adults went so far in their matches, and this fight hadn't been the first to cross the line this year. She wanted to hit something, but a pair of air dragons down by the arena perimeter seemed to have a more productive idea. Carefully, wind spiraled around Jet's form, tucking under her back to lift her from the scorching ground. Jet stirred, and Naïma winced—how could she even be conscious after that? The rising heat was whisked away from her, allowing a healer to descend and gather her into his arms without being thrown back up by the thermal current. Upon landing, he was swarmed by water healers, who immediately started on the worst of the burns. Naïma felt her tight body relax, although there was still a shaking deep within her. She hadn't been truly frightened for the youngling's life, she admitted to herself, and she'd known that with so many healers present, Jet wouldn't even bear the scars of this encounter. But, then, why was she afraid? Because I am again helpless.

The pattering of feat in the shady forest started to grow as it entered the grassy field revealing the pursued dragoness. Pandora spun around when she entered the center of the field to face the demon, unaware that she was backing into Ourias hiding place. (Where did her ninja skills go?) The demon entered out of the tree line looking right at her with a grin making the small dragon back up with horrified look. "What do you want. Why are you chasing me if you don't follow his dark aura?" She asked as she attempted to run again. Scourge pulled his mace off his back then yelled after her furiously before she escaped again, "If you so much as run another fifty feet I will spear through my mace at you. Trust me, I wont miss like you did your spear." Pandora turned to look at him then gasped as the demon was saying the truth. Scourge spun around his massive weapon in his right hand like a staff master then aimed it's huge jagged head at the dragoness which caught her attention. "It wasn't me that threw that spear at you though. It was Void," she called out then laid down on her belly looking up at the demon approaching her angrily. "Please don't hurt me for I did nothing to provoke you demon!" She pleaded.
Scourge walked up placing his mace back on it's hooks then hunched over the dragoness as he dropped to one knee grasping the smooth bottom of the dragon's neck to raise her gaze at him. He looked right into her closed eyes until she opened them and stared right into his infernal soul. "Now then," the demon inquired as he looked for something in the dragoness' fear filled stare, "this Void you speak of, isn't he the demolisher of existences and time?" Pandora nodded acknowledging his answer, but when Scourge turned to look at the rustling in the far trees behind him. The fierce little one lashed out her right paw at the demon's throat only to hear a *slap* as her attack was caught by Scourge's left hand. "Not very bright are you?" he growled as he looked back at the surprised glare Pandora gave. The demon god was about to do something rash to punish the scared creature until he heard the sound of moving armor plates and a shadow rise above the two. Magma dripped onto Scourge's shoulder as a huge demonic sword hovered above. Pandora's eyes turned up to the huge demon knight behind her capture giving the expression that they were both in trouble. Scourge stood up and looked over his shoulder to sight the huge black iron wall behind him with the dragoness' neck still grasped in his grip. The demon lifted Pandora off her feat then threw her into the long grass on top of Ourias to turn and face the demon knight. "Hm, hm, ha, ha, haaa! Cataclysm, is that you? But I thought I vanquished you, to the Void that is!" The demon knight growled furiously as he lifted his sword and swiped it attempting to cut Scourge in half. Scourge reached for his weapon in lightning speed successfully pulling it of his back once more then stabbing the fang shaped pummel into earth. The sound of both the demonic weapons clashing once against each other echoed loud through the forest making the surrounding birds in the trees flee in feathered clouds as the two grinned at one another.
The forest truly fell silent as the smaller demon Scourge had his weapon locked in a motionless draw with the thirty foot demon knight he called Cataclysm. The dragoness on the other hand recovered noticing a shadowy fellow beneath her. "What, were you watching the entire time while I was being tortured?" she asked feeling betrayed of all hope and a sad look appearing on her face.

Isis had gone quiet when Zephyr said Starlight's name. With a bit of a sigh Zephyr put it out of his mind. Isis would sometimes get into these moods and Zephyr had learned to get on with the day because it was darn near impossible to coax him back out. "At least he's not throwing energy around this time." He mumbled. Looking down his side he eyed the paint which had made streaks on his scales from the speed of his excape. He glowered at the dribbles till he burst into a grin. "What mighty battle scars, heh. Good thing their not permenent though." Dodging dragons and activities he headed for the water again. Reaching the edge he passed a red dragon who was just leaving, leaving a cloud of colour in the water behind her. "You got caught too?"

"You bet." Shya pawed at her snout, still feeling like her nostrils were full of hellsclover. "It was a hard-fought battle, but I fell all the same," she said with a half-open grin.
------
"I'm sorry," Ourias whispered up to Pandora as soon as he had regained his breath. "I didn't know what to do, but I wouldn't have let you get hurt. What's going on? Who are they?" he hissed.
------
Oltyth galloped to the field's edge, and his golden eyes narrowed at the sight of the two demon warriors. "Oh, for crying out loud."
------
An echo of clashing metal rent the air, and flocks of birds burst from the canopy of the forest in the distance. Metrus lifted his head in alarm, searching the forest line for further disturbances. Ourias, was all he had time to think before he was down off his branch in a flash and weaving in flight between the trees.
